The services in this booklet are either provided on a commercial basis by the bus operators or provided with financial support from North Yorkshire County Council or West Yorkshire Combined Authority. Most of the Sunday DalesBus network is managed by the Dales & Bowland Community Interest Company, with financial support from several organisations.
Welcome to your Winter DalesBus ServicesThe beautiful countryside of the Yorkshire Dales is easily accessible from many places by bus and train.This online booklet has been produced by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and the Dales & Bowland Community Interest Company as a guide to the main bus services into and around the Yorkshire Dales for winter 2019-20. Separate printed timetable leaflets are available locally for most services.• Daily bus services are provided into Wharfedale from Skipton to Grassington
(bus 72), in Nidderdale from Harrogate to Pateley Bridge (bus 24), from Garsdale Station to Hawes (LWB & bus 855), and along Wensleydale between Leyburn and Hawes (buses 156 & 856).
• On many other routes, including Ripon to Leyburn and Richmond (bus 159), Richmond to Reeth and Keld (bus 30), Skipton to Settle, Ingleton, Kirkby Lonsdale and Lancaster (bus 580/581/582), and Skipton to Malham (buses 75/210/211), there are bus services on Mondays to Saturdays.
• There are additional DalesBus services on Sundays from Wakefield, Rothwell, Leeds, Headingley, Otley and Ilkley to Bolton Abbey, Grassington, Kettlewell and Buckden (bus 874), between Skipton, Bolton Abbey and Ilkley (bus 873) and from Northallerton and Bedale to Leyburn and Hawes (bus 856).
• Various fare offers are available (see pages 4-6); including One Way £1 fares for young people, Dales Rambler rail+bus tickets, Dales Rover tickets on Sundays and free travel on off-peak services for holders of English National Concessionary Passes.
• As indicated on the timetable pages some rural bus services are operated by 16-seater minibuses which cannot take standing passengers – groups wishing to travel on these services should contact the operator prior to travel. All other services use larger buses.
• Services and fares may be subject to change during the season – the latest information is available from MetroLine or at www.dalesbus.org
• See separate publicity for details of services on public holidays.

A range of value-for-money tickets is available on DalesBus services.
Ordinary single and day return tickets are available from the driver on all routes.
Holders of English National Concessionary Passes can travel free on off-peak services on Mondays to Fridays (except on demand responsive services) and all buses on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays during the winter period (except on demand responsive services).
Dales Rover tickets offer unlimited travel on all DalesBus services on Sundays, with discounts for students and railcard holders. See page 5 for details.
Many bus operators, including Kirkby Lonsdale Coach Hire, Little White Bus, Dales & District, The Harrogate Bus Company and The Keighley Bus Company, offer tickets providing unlimited travel on buses of that operator for a day or week – contact the operators for details.
The One Way £1 scheme allows anyone aged under 19 with appropriate ID to travel for £1 per journey within the Yorkshire Dales area – this offer is currently available on buses run by Dales & District, Kirkby Lonsdale Coach Hire, Little White Bus and North Yorkshire County Council, plus most Sunday DalesBus services. This fare is not available before 1700 on schooldays. Check dalesbus.org for details.
Dales Rambler tickets are available for a trip to the Dales from Leeds or Bradford on the Airedale and Wharfedale railway lines. Tickets include a return journey by train to Ilkley or Skipton, then travel by DalesBus services to Upper Wharfedale and (on Saturdays only) to Malham. For details see page 6.
Tickets on DalesBus Services
If you have a MCard loaded with a weekly or longer period ticket, you can travel free on the full length of the Sunday DalesBus services from/to West Yorkshire; that is services 873, 874 and 884.Please note however that Metro DaySaver, MyDay & Weekender tickets are only valid within the West Yorkshire county boundary on DalesBus services.Ticket availability and prices shown in this booklet are correct as at 27 October 2019, but may be subject to change without notice – check with MetroLine or dalesbus.org for the latest information.

Concessionary Passes on DalesBus ServicesMondays to Fridays (excluding Bank Holidays)English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS) concessionary passes for the elderly and disabled are valid for free travel after 0900 for North Yorkshire residents, and after 0930 for other passholders. They are valid on all local bus services except some demand responsive services.SaturdaysENCTS concessionary passes are valid all day for free travel on all local bus services, except the Wharfedale Packhorse and some demand responsive services
SundaysENCTS concessionary passes are valid all day for free travel on all local bus services during the winter months, except for the Little White Bus Upper Dales CONNECT demand responsive service.

Great days out in the Yorkshire Dales are easier with DALES RAMBLER DAY RANGER ticketsTake a day out in Wharfedale or Malhamdale, and visit one of the pretty Dales villages of Burnsall, Kettlewell, Buckden or Malham; or the town of Grassington. Stop for a relaxing break in one of the many tea shops or pubs.
Amble through the ruins of the great Bolton Abbey or visit the Strid where the River Wharfe is forced through a natural ravine.
Tickets are available for a trip to the Dales from Leeds or Bradford or any station on the Airedale or Wharfedale railway lines. Ask for a ‘DALES RAMBLER DAY RANGER’ ticket on the train or at the ticket office. Tickets are priced as follows*: Adult: £12.00; Child: £6.00; Family: £25.00; Railcard: £7.90**

Advice for Bus Users
How to use the bus
• At the stop or shelter please indicate clearly to the bus driver that you intend to get on the bus.
• When you get on the bus please tell the driver where you are going.• If you can give the exact fare, please do so.• When you are getting close to the stop where you want to get off
please ring the bell once, then stay in your seat until the bus stops.• Smoking is not allowed on any buses.• For the safety and security of passengers all bus stations, some bus
stops and some buses are fitted with CCTV equipment.• In country areas where there are no bus stops, DalesBus services will
stop anywhere it is safe to do so. Again, please indicate clearly to the bus driver that you intend to get on the bus. Avoid waiting near bends or narrow sections of the road where it would be unsafe for the bus to stop.
• Please note DalesBus services 74A and 874 operate in a limited stop basis in West Yorkshire - see page 47 for details.
• Services are subject to change on public holidays and between Christmas & New Year - see separate publicity for details.

When using our bus stations:• Directional signs and notices are there for your safety,
please follow them.• Please follow instructions given by the station staff in the event
of an evacuation of the bus station.• Do not walk in the bus area at any time.• Ask one of our customer advisors or security staff if you are unsure
where to go.• Follow any safety announcements or directions given out
over the bus station public address system.• Do not leave luggage unattended. Keep your own belongings
with you at all times.

The Yorkshire Dales has its own public transport users group which campaigns for accessible and affordable public transport for visitors and residents.The Friends of DalesBus, originally known as the Yorkshire Dales Public Transport Users Group, has been working to keep buses running through the dales for over 20 years. It now has a membership of around 300 people with room for more inside!In association with the Yorkshire Dales Society (now known as Friends of the Dales), the Friends established the Dales & Bowland Community Interest Company, which now manages much of the Sunday & Bank Holiday bus network in the Yorkshire Dales.The Friends of DalesBus work with local supporters throughout the Dales, in order to help promote and develop local bus and train services.The Friends of DalesBus also manage the DalesBus Ramblers programme of free guided walks, which are all accessible by public transport and open to the general public. The services in this booklet generally stop at all bus stops. Services 74A and 874 however operate on a limited stop basis, stopping as follows:
Service 74A does not carry local passengers between Ilkley and Addingham.
On the outward journey service 874 stops at all bus stops via service 110 route from Wakefield to Robin Hood, then all stops via Leadwell Lane, Butcher Lane and Wood Lane, then stops only at Wood Lane End, Thwaite Gate, Church Street, Leeds City Bus Station (Stand 11), Leeds Station Interchange (Stand S6), Leeds University Steps, Hyde Park Corner, Headingley Shopping Centre, Glen Road, Welburn Grove, Lawnswood Cemetery and Adel Divino’s Restaurant, and then at all bus stops to Buckden.
On the return journey service 874 stops at all bus stops, but the last picking up point is Adel, Lawnswood Arms.
