What is a Social Networking website?A social networking site provides a variety of web based functionality that enables individuals and groups to talk, share and interact in a variety of ways. Friendship Zone provides a powerful means of communicating and sharing information in a safe and ethical environment. Have a look at the Facilities described in full on the back page.

How does Friendship zone grow?Friendship Zone has created a brand that is very attractive to users. This drives people to register and share this unique concept with their friends and colleagues. These people have their own hopes, dreams and charities that they support. So they in turn register and the process fulfils itself. This is known as the 'Full circle concept 'The growth of Friendship Zone will enable the charity to apply for grants, accept advertising and collect donations. This enables us to benefit those less fortunate and fulfil their dreams.

Who works at Friendship Zone? The website is run, promoted and moderated by volunteers who are a part of our growing community. There are only a few paid staff dedicated to the cause.

What can I do ?Register

Moderate

By registering your interest you begin a snowball effect that creates an advantage for you and Friendship Zone.

Safety on the internet is a primary concern for us, particularly where children are concerned. Therefore there is a strict policy on moderation, especially since we are a charity. All content is sent to a moderator rather than directly uploaded to the website. The moderator then decides on its suitability. Our aim is for all uploaded content to be deemed suitable in less than 3 hours. It is very important that the website is not abused and security standards are met. All users are able to contact the moderator via the

Accept Marketing

Digital Stamp

Revenue for the charity is raised via advertisers, sponsors and premium services. Incorporated into this system is targeted marketing. Once the number of users has grown to 1million, Friendship zone has the opportunity to generate additional income if you accept targeted marketing. This will be restricted to 10% of online time and 33% of a targeted txt message.

We will also be relying on links with other sponsor websites and sponsor links, press releases, internet, word of mouth, mail campaign and the press.

Sponsors of Friendship Zone will be authorised to use a digital stamp to show their support, whilst those charities supported by Friendship Zone will also be issued with a loyalty stamp.

We are a charity with a difference- we do not ask for money, we earn it through hard work and by providing cost effective and results based marketing services.

Whatever you give us and whichever way you help us, we will always give something back such as promotion of your chosen charitable causes, your services or brands. By supporting Friendship Zone, we will become one step closer to helping people to achieve their dreams.

How we spend our surplus. We are proud to present our charitable projects. Friendship Zone commits all surpluses towards various charitable and community projects suggested to us by our users

Anybody can access these through the Friendship Zone web site once they have registered and created their profile. To do so, all they have to do is follow the same procedure as creating a blog. However, our system enables a person to submit this as a ‘Request for Support’.

In July 2009, Friendship Zone received a ‘Request for Support’ from Linda. She chose the Social Tab from the menu on the left hand side of the page and then chose ‘Create Blog’. She wrote her blog with the ‘Request for Support’ in mind. She said that she was originally from Latvia and has always found life a struggle because of suffering from Cerebral Palsy. She said, “All my previous birthday parties have been at home. I have always dreamed to go out somewhere nice...”

After submitting this blog, she viewed it from the same location using ‘View Blog’'. When she viewed it, immediately above is an option that states ‘Request for Support’. She accepted the Terms and Conditions and chose the ‘Yes’ option. When we saw her request, we immediately knew this was somebody for whom we could make a small but perhaps significant difference in her life. We authorised her request. With her micro-grant, she went to Red Hot Restaurant at Sixfields in Northampton.

All the ‘Requests for Support’ that we receive are kept in a publicly viewable location under the Charity tab from the menu on the left hand side of the page.

Everybody can view current charitable projects supported by us within the Charitable section of the website or simply follow the Smiling face. Here is an example.

As part of the Terms, to receive your grant, after you have enjoyed our hospitality you must write a 'Good Story' about your experience. This is done by following the same procedure as above in creating a blog, but this time you submit your story using the 'Good Story' option.

Linda blogged about her story saying “... It was brilliant ... we had a big giggle ... I feel as though somebody cared enough to make a difference to me ... “Friendship Zone was proud to be able to make the micro grant in her favour and refund the cost of the Birthday Dream Party that she enjoyed at Red Hot.
