Our Keynote Speakers for 2019 David Jackman is a well-known speaker at the Keswick Convention and we are delighted to welcome him back to Sidmouth. Minister of Above Bar Church in Southampton for 15 years, David was the first director of the Cornhill Training Course in London and is author of over a dozen books and commentaries, including “Spirit of Truth: unlocking the Bible’s teaching on the Holy Spirit” on which his sessions will be based. In ‘retirement’ he has a teaching ministry around the UK and abroad. David is married to Heather and they have two adult children and four grandchildren. James Grier is Youth Church Advisor for Exeter Diocese and leads Unlimited Church, a multi-generational church which exists to reach young people with little or no experience of church or faith. He is also chair of South West Youth Ministries and Chaplain to St Mellitus College South West. He is a lively and vibrant speaker. Although passionate about reaching unchurched young people, James enjoys and appreciates working with people at all stages of life. James is married to Liz who has just had her first book published, ‘Beginning Unlimited’, the story of the Unlimited Church. They have two teenage sons, Josh and Toby. Friday at 9.30am – 1pm: Choose two seminars from the four listed Transformed Living and Politics – with Andy Flannagan

Andy is a Luton-based Irish singer-songwriter who was previously a hospital doctor. Today he continues to juggle his work as Executive Director of Christians in Politics with a music career. As well as author of several books on Christian engagement in public life, Andy has several highly regarded music CDs to his name. A key driving passion of Andy's is to see a just ‘rewiring’ of the global economic system.

Transformed Living in Later Life – with Dave FentonDave is a retired clergyman spending his after-work time lecturing at Moorlands College, sharing his faith at his local golf club and escaping to a cliff-top caravan in Cornwall. When fulltime work ends a new era begins. Hear how Christians can make the best of it – in their church, as salt and light, in their relations with others. And what church leaders need to know about those retiring with wisdom, time and energy and wanting to put God first.

Transformed Living and the Environment - with John Hereward and othersWhy should Christians care about the world we live in? John Hereward, a retired doctor and vicar will provide an overview of what the bible teaches about caring for creation. Anthony Hereward, a zoologist and climate change expert, will give us some of the “headlines” of the current environmental crisis. Caroline Pomeroy, Director of Climate Stewards, will look at what we can do to be

good stewards of the world God has entrusted us to look after.

Transformed Living and Mental Health – with Dr Rachel handleyRachel is a is a Clinical Psychologist and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist at Exeter University.  She will look at how both churches and individual Christians can best connect with those with mental health and other similar difficulties that afflict so many people today.

 

Friday Night Special with Steve LeggAn opportunity to relax and invite friends …

Steve Legg first hit the road with his unique and funny blend of comedy, daft magic and daring escapology some 30 years ago. Today he travels the length and breadth of the UK, as well as internationally, working alongside household names such as Fern Britton, Helen Shapiro, Boyzone and Gloria Gaynor. A member of the world-renowned Magic Circle, Steve creates magic to promote, charm and baffle but, most importantly, to entertain. Steve became a Christian as a teenager and threads the Christian message all the way through his family-friendly show.

Recordings Each main teaching session will be recorded by Ground Vision a not-for-profit company created and run by Christians. CDs or MP3s will be available for sale.

Prayer Please pray for our speakers and for all who will attend. There will be opportunities to pray together Tuesday – Thursday at 9.30am and to receive individual prayer after each session.

Mission Exhibitions An opportunity to meet reps and hear about their work.Book Stall The Mustard Seed will provide a bookstall in the hall and refreshments and light lunches in the shop

and café almost opposite the church. The Dairy Shop and Deli, Church Street offers refreshments.Costs There is no upfront charge but there are opportunities to contribute towards costs.Refreshments Coffee and tea will be served at 10am and after the evening meetings.Parking There is very limited parking at the church and you are advised to park off site if possible.
