India to witness total lunar eclipse on Apr 4NEW DELHI, Mar 26:

In a visual treat for celestialgazers, a total lunar eclipse willbe witnessed in India on April4.

The phenomenon will occurfrom 3.45 pm to 7.15 pm andthe north-eastern states and theAndaman Islands in particularwould be the best places to wit-ness the celestial phenomenon.

“The initial umbral phase ofthe eclipse will not be seen in

India. At the time of moonrise,the totality phases of the eclipsewill be visible from the extremenorth-eastern region of Indiaand the Andaman and NicoberIslands. Rest parts of the coun-

try will only see the partialeclipse,” a statement issuedtoday said.

The totality phase will,however, last for a very shortduration, it added. (PTI)
