WE ARE A HEALTHY SCHOOL Please be reminded that, as a healthy school, children are only allowed to have a piece of fruit or veg for their break time snack. This is provided free of charge for children up to year 2 but from year 3 up, children are allowed to bring in their own snack. We have also had some of the older children bringing in sweets and energy drinks into school recently. These are not allowed and will be taken from children when discovered. Thank you for your support with this. Their fundraising and the Green Day we held last week has raised over £1300 for the NSPCC. Quite an effort. I think they should all take a week off work to recover! Hail Caesar! As part of Chorlton Arts Festival, our year 5 children have been working with Chorlton High School on a production of William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. All their hard work culminated on Monday night with a powerful performance of this classic play at The Blue Box Theatre. The critics loved! A huge thank you to Mel Jordan of Chorlton High School and of course our own year 5 team for all of the support they have given to the children to help them make the most of this wonderful opportunity. Who knows what natural talent might have been unearthed through this experience.

Champions AGAIN! This time it’s our cyclists who have come out on top and will be heading to the Citywide finals at the National Cycling Centre on June 10th. Well done girls and boys. Is there anything these children can’t do?

WE OUR PTA!! It’s true, we really do. They support so many of the special things we are able to do with your children. At Wednesday's meeting there were lots of new faces - thanks to everyone who came along. Here's what they agreed to support at school: £400 towards Y4's trip to Bridgewater Hall to work with the world famous Halle Orchestra, £500 towards the purchase of new ukuleles, £450 towards Rhyme Rocket for EYFS and KS1, £200 to offset the extra cost incurred by the rearranged Y1 trip to Eureka!, up to £350 towards the transport costs for this year's zoo trips, £50 for the hire of a smoke machine for a special event, £550 for an event at The Big Adventure (with more to be donated after the sausage sizzle), £213 towards Y6 leavers' hoodies...a grand total of £2713. Like we always say, every penny raised by the PTA goes towards enriching the children's experiences as they move through Cavendish. Thank you Cavendish PTA - you rock!

Didsbury Festival Saturday 11th June - From 11am

Your Galaxy Needs You! Cavendish will be participating in this year's Didsbury Festival parade. We’ll be meeting at St Catherine's School on School Lane between 10.15 to 10.45am and the procession will start at 11am. This year's theme is 'Space' and Cavendish's entry is 'Aliens' so we hope to see as many OUT OF THIS WORLD costumes to march behind the Cavendish flag as possible. Please note, no dogs or pushchairs are allowed in the parade. Keep an eye out for the PTA's book bag flyer with further information on the festival as a whole. In the meantime, you can find out more about what’s happening on www.didsburyfestival.co.uk .

Reception hit the beach! And finally… To support their topic of The Seaside, all 90 of our reception children took a trip to Formby beach on Wednesday. Thank you to all of the volunteers we had helping us on the day, making sure no-one was left behind in the sand dunes – not even the teachers!
