...There are architecturalplans somewhere, and anarchitect behind that

    design, and a builder who

    carried them out.

    by Skip Heitzig

For the most part,in pop culture the idea o evolution is a

closed case. I you ask the average person

on the street, theyll say, Everybody knows

that we evolved. That idea o creation was

disproven a long time ago. It s a done

    deal.

However, there are many people in the

academic world who have difculties with

    evolution. Theyve done the research,

theyve got the hard acts, and they fnd it

an untenable position. Dr. Michael Denton,

a British biochemist, wrote a book called

Evolution: A Theory in Crisis, in which he

said that evolutionary theory is still, as it

was in Darwins time, a highly speculative

    hypothesis, entirely without direct actual

    support.

When Charles Darwin wrote the Origin of

Species, he knew that he had one glaring

problem. He knew the ossil record was

against him because no transitional orms

between species had been ound. But he

believed that, given enough time, evidence

would come to support his theory. Well,

the evidence hasnt come, but the theory

    persists.

On the other hand, lets look at an argu-

ment or the existence o God.

When you see a building, you naturally

assume that an architect designed it,

and a contractor built it. But what i I told

you this: No, youre wrong. Heres what

    happened. Some chemicals collided, and

some explosions happened, and randomly, over millions o years, it just oozed out o

the ground. You would say, You need a

long vacation, Skip! Thats ridiculous! And

i I asked why, youd say, Because any

design like this points to a designer. There

are architectural plans somewhere, and an

architect behind that design, and a builderwho carried them out.

Now, that would be wise. And the com-

plexities o the human body, and biological

orms o all kinds, are much more compli-

cated than a building. To say It just ran-

domly happened over time isnt as tenable

We call this theteleological argument forthe existence of God.

We can see by the designthat there is a Designer.

    5

But what i it was 50 percent oxygen? Thefrst guy to light a match would see the big-

    gestand lastfreworks display in history.

You see, the more you go through it, the

more you realize it didnt just so happen.

It was just so designed. This wasnt the

result o spontaneous generation. Godcreated the heavens and the earth. Listen

to astronomer Sir Frederick Hoyle: The

    probability o spontaneous generation o a

single bacterium is the same as the prob-

ability that a tornado sweeping through a

junk yard could assemble a 747 rom the

    contents therein.

No, it just doesnt make sense. The design

points to the Designer. God is the De-

signer, the Architect, the Creator. In the

beginning, God created the heavens and

    the earth (Genesis 1:1).

as youve been led to believe. We call this

the teleological argument or the existence

o God. We can see by the design that

    there is a Designer.

Genesis 2:4 says, This is the history o

the heavens and the earth when they were

created, in the day that the Lord God made

    the earth and the heavens.

Beore you go to bed tonight, i its a clear

night, walk outside. Look up and check outthe sky. Think o all those stars and how ar

they are out there. Its a beautiul sight. But

what I want you to consider is this: I the art

that is displayed in the skies is that beauti-

ul, what must the Artist be like? That is the

theme o the entire Bible, to point us to the

    Creator.

Now listen to how ridiculous this sounds:

It just so happens that the earth and the

sun are 93 million miles apart. Its just a

    coincidence. But the surace temperature

o the sun is 12,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

I the earth were as close to the sun asVenus, wed all burn up. I it were as ar as

    Mars, wed all reeze.

It just so happens that the earth revolves

365 times in its annual journey around

the sun. Why 365? Why not 30 times?

Because then the days would be ten timeslonger, and the alternate periods o cold

and heat would kill us. We couldnt survive.

It just so happens that the atmosphere is

    a combination o 79 parts nitrogen to 20

parts oxygen to 1 percent variant gases. FQ

Dorothy Savagewas at thedeathbed of bothher mother andher sister, just two of the valleys in a life lledwith challenging and difcult moments. Yet

Shestaken those lessons and put them into hermusic in her debut album, Glorious Mess, debuting March 30. Oh, she also has a housethats all pink and was featured on HGTV.

John Reubenslatest album hashad some troublegetting air time,in large partdue to its title, Sex, Drugs and Self-Control.However, Reuben says the inspiration for thisalbum comes from the fact that he feels themost creative when hes closest to God. Itsonly that certain spiritual disciplines seemfreeing and inspiring instead of restrictive.Along with the new album, hes also touringextensively this year, and he even made a stopin Santa Fe in January.

Their song Savethe World hasbeen one of themost requested

songs at M88since it started playing. This San Antoniogroup says they set out to create music thatcan be enjoyed by people from all walks of life, but which ultimately points back to life, loveand faith in God. The group is currently touringthrough Texas, and their new EP Until Thenis available now.

The much-anticipated newalbum fromDemon Hunter,The World isa Thorn, hits stores March 9. Whats the newalbum all about? Well, according to the band,in a world where its becoming more and moredespicable to be a Christian, where subjectivetruth, self-love, unrestricted perversion, andthe destruction of morality seem to be the ruleof the day, this album is the antithesis of themodern way of life.

ow do you get your news? Do you

    still read the Albuquerque Journal?

Are you tuning in to channel 7 or

13 at 6 and 10 PM to nd out whats going on

    in the area?

    A new concept in

    receiving news is

    rapidly growing on

    the internet. It is

    called the Real-Time

    Web. By denition,

    the Real-Time Web is

    a set of technologies

    and practices which

    enable users to receive

    information as soon

as it is published by its authors, rather than

requiring that they or their software check

    a source periodically for

    updates. (Source: Wikipedia)

    Newspapers have been

    suffering in the last several

years because they have nochoice but to publish day-

    old news. The limitation of

    delivering news in this way

    is that its dependent upon

    the printing press, delivery

trucks and paperboys. Every bit of their

news must go through those channels to be

    delivered to your home.

It reminds me of the Rainbo Bread Bakery

outlet on Montano. They are selling lovely

    loaves of tasty, day-

    old bread. There is

    nothing wrong with

    the breadin fact it

is just as tasty as its

    fresh counterpartit

    is just older and cant

    be marketed as fresh.

    What type of news

    are you consuming?

    Day-old news or

live, as-it-is-happening content? That iswhat the Real-Time Web brings you. Its

like standing there as the baker pulls out the

    bread, taking the loaf from

his hot pan, buttering it up

    and eating it.

    How does this happen?

    What can make the Web,

    real-time? Imagine if

    you gave nearly every

    human a communication

    device and allowed them

    to report on any news

they are involved in. People who are at the

scene of breaking news can report it moments

after it happens and continue reporting as it

    develops.

That communication device is a mobile

phone and the ability to report is as simple as

sending a text message. There are Web sites

like WhatTheTrend.com that allow you to nd

out what the trending topics are right now,

and what is being reported on those particular

    news items.

A site called CoverItLive.com allows people

attending a scheduled event or conference to

live blog about what is happening where

they are. Twitter, a microblogging site, allows

its users to put hash tags into their tweets

(e.g., #Olympics is hot as I write this), so

visitors can tune into a stream of real-time

micro posts coming live out of a particular

    event.

Google has incorporated into its search

results a section called, Latest Results for

It allows you to watch the Real-Time Web

produce new results for your search query

    in well, real-time.

    Twitter.com provides Real-Time Web results

by just searching for a topic. Itll provide you

with immediate results and then continue to

aggregate results for you as they are pulled

out of the oven, so to speak.

Although Im rather fond of Rainbos day-old

bread, I prefer to be able to get piping-hot,

fresh news for the topics Im interested in.

And with the Real-Time Web I can do just

that. Too bad I cant put any butter on it and

    eat it.

Train up a child in the way he should go

and when he is old he will not depart rom

it (Proverbs 22:6). The lie and testimony o

John MacArthur illustrates this biblical truth.

John, a th-generation pastor who learned

    his characteristic expository teaching style

rom his ather, grew up in what is now

South Central Los Angeles. Though he was

    not particularly disobedient, his childhood

    curiosity and boldness motivated his

parents to prayer on his behal. Those same

traits, harnessed by the Lord, infuence his

study and presentation o the scripture.

Iwish I had kept my fifth-grade science book. It had a

terrific graph showing a strange little fox-like creature who

eventually ended up as Mr. Ed, the talking horse from TV.Books from that point on carriedvariations on that theme, and it was justassumed that this evolutionary chainwas bedrock fact. Of course, we knownow that no transitional forms exist tosupport this chart. This is just one ofthe many credibility problems I have

discovered with evolution since fifthgrade. Here are a few more:

If my theory be true, numberlessintermediate varieties, linkingmost closely all the species of thesame group together, must assuredlyhave existed. Charles Darwin,Origin of Species

Charles Darwin assumed thattransitional forms would be discoveredin the future, but they do not exist. Anexample of a transitional form wouldbe the discovery of a half-fish, half-man skeleton. Evolution demands thatthis missing link must have existed

somewhere, sometime (besides fifthgrade science books), like in the fossilrecord.

In my most extreme fluctuations Ihave never been an Atheist in thesense of denying the existence of aGod. Letters of Charles Darwin

Thats hedging your bet, Charles. Onthe other hand, there is something

    known as practical atheism:

The Old Testament from itsmanifestly false history of theworld, with the Tower of Babel, the rainbow as a sign, etc., etc.,and from its attributing to Godthe feelings of a revengeful tyrant, was no more to be trusted than thesacred books of the Hindoos, orthe beliefs of any barbarian.

    Autobiography of Charles Darwin

Ouch. Painful scholarship, andembarrassing for Darwin apologists onso many levels.

There is no fundamental differencebetween man and the highermammals in their mental faculties.- Charles Darwin, Descent of Man

As with many of Darwins positions, the best response is often, Speak foryourself.

    Now I have never systematically

thought much on religion in relationto science, or on morals in relationto society. - Letters of CharlesDarwin

That would be true for Darwin andPlanned Parenthood.

To suppose that the eye with all

its inimitable contrivances foradjusting the focus to different

distances, for admitting differentamounts of light, and for thecorrection of spherical andchromatic aberration, could havebeen formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in thehighest degree.- Charles Darwin, Origin of Species

A rare moment of honest clarity forCharles. Consider:

Your eyes are composed of more thantwo million working parts.

They can process 36,000 bits ofinformation every hour.

Number of fibers in human opticnerve = 1,200,000

You will see 24 million images of theworld around you in a normal lifespan.

The human eye can detect over 10million different colors.

There are 120 million rod cells in theretina of your eye.

In the glaring light of reality, it isstunning that Darwins theory has somany fans. Perhaps it is only out ofdesperate agnosticism that this absurdtheory has been dressed up, proppedup and allowed to be such a pretenderof truth. Enough.
