Cath holds an adjunct academic title at Bond University and has completed post graduate tertiary studies in public health and management, and is CBIC certified. Career highlights include a 1 year post- Doctoral placement at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the USA during 2000 and completing several invited short-term missions for the World Health Organization. She managed the New South Wales state government Infection Control Program from 1997 until 2004, and developed Australia’s first mandatory reporting system for hospital infections in 2003. Ruth Melville Ruth is President of the International Federation of Perioperative Nursing (IFPN) representing perioperative nurses globally. Ruth is a Fellow of the Australian College of Operating Room Nurses (ACORN) and an active member of ACORN since 1985, holding many positions including ACORN President (2012–14); ACORN Director and Chair of the Standards Committee 2010–12; ACORN PNAQ Representative 2008–10 and PNAQ President 2004–06. She recently took on a new role of Safety Improvement Support Officer for Peri- operative, Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) giving her the opportunity to further utilise her skills and knowledge related to the Perioperative setting including standards, patient safety and theatre efficiency. Kellie Byron-Gray Kellie Byron-Gray is an Infection Control practitioner currently employed as the Education Officer and interim Operations Manager for the Australasian College of Infection Prevention and Control (ACIPC). Kellie was previously the Clinical Nurse Coordinator for the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network Infection Prevention and Control Service, Adelaide, South Australia. Kellie has been in health care for a period of 27 years with Critical Care, Infection Prevention and Control and Public Health Disease Surveillance and Investigation experience. Julie Johnson Julie has been a senior member of the ACORN Faculty Team since 2013, contributing to the standards review process to ensure patients receive the safest and highest quality perioperative care in Australia. Julie has been the Lead Reviewer for the Infection Prevention and Surgical Hand Antisepsis, Gowning & Gloving Standards, and has recently been appointed Lead Reviewer for the review of the standard related to Reprocessing Reusable Medical Devices. She has over 35 years experience working in diverse perioperative practice areas across many geographic locations as a clinician, manager and educator.
