WITH GREAT SADNESS, OUR BROTHER QR AUKAMP PASSED AWAY AT 6:40PM. HE FOUGHT AYEAR BATTLE WITH CANCER. BORN ON A FROM IN PA. HE MOVED TO MIAMI AND JOINED THEPOLICE FORCE. HE WAS AS TOUGH AS THEY COME. A FORMER (YET ALWAYS) A MARINE AND

MPD VET FOR OVER 36 YEARS--- MOST OF IT IN MOTORS. QR JOINED MPD IN 1955 UNTIL HISRETIREMET IN OCT. 91. HE WAS ACTIVE WITH THE FOP AND PBA. Q WILL BE SORELY MISSED. NODETAILS ON ARRANGEMENTS. HIS GOOD FRIEND (AS WE ALL ARE) JOHN CHOATE IS SUFFERINGWITH SHINGLES AND HIS SISTER JUST SUFFERED A HEART ATTACK. BOTH ARE IN PEMBROKEPINES. MORE ON BOTH LATER. I AM OUT OF TOWN. OUR MOST SINCERE AND HEARTFELTCONDOLENCES TO HIS WIFE BARBARA AND DAUGHTER, SANDRA. ALL YOUR FRIENDS WILLMISS YOU QR AND YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THERE WILL BE NO SERVICES. HE WILL BE CREMATED HOWEVER THERE WILL BE A MEMORIALAT THE PBA ON A "PARTICULAR"SUNDAY. WHEN THE DATE IS GIVEN IT WILL BE POSTED.

I am so sorry and saddened to hear about QR. He fought a long hard battle, but now he is at rest with our Lord andSavior. Q was one of a kind. I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during thismost difficult time. Rest in Peace my friend, rest in Peace.

I attended only one F O P meeting Q R wasn't at. He had requested permission the month before to miss thatmeeting as he was going hunting in Pa. with some long time friends. Rest in Peace Q R. We will go fishing againnext time we meet my friend.

Quentin, we had many great times, wether it was joking around at the station, a "15" on the street,(he was like theLone Ranger and just showed up by you) meeting at the Krispy Kreme donut place on the trail & 32, or was it 33ave , I forgot ? Tobacco road, The PBA hall, the annual reunions, that karaoke bar in the Pines where Jon Spearwould sing, the bar-b-q's , or Outdoor world for happy hour on Fridays. QR was a great person that I am glad to say I had the pleasure of working with him for many, many years.Especially when I worked with him while on motors. I remember the nights leaving the dog track after midnightand riding north to the Golden Glades interchange where I would continue north and QR and JC (John Choate)had a special little custom exit ramp with a opening in the fence before 12th Avenue that they could get off theexpressway and dump them by their house. Nothing almost every bothered QR and whenever he knew you wereupset or didn't like the way things were going, he would always say, "don't worry about it Norm"...I remember him helping others make it to the reunions, Sebring luncheons and fop/pba meetings even pushingwheelchairs. During his last few years of work, I also remember his helmet slightly cocked sideways as he rode infront of me. You could it tell it was QR. I wish I had a picture of that.I'll miss him and his friendship.If anyone has some pictures of him with you, email them to me and I'll add them [email protected]

Not much I can add to such elegant remarks but I would like to say that he was tough but was very funny too. Ienjoyed his jokes and big laughs and I will miss him at the meetings and events.He is now resting with our lord and for the time we had him,we are grateful!Untill we meet again,R.I.P.Security is not the absence of danger it's the presence of god!

I agree with Eddie...you rock! I have many nice memories of QR. When I was working B Shift, I would sometimesbring my shrimping gear along to work and after 06 would go over to the Port of Miami to try to catch some ofthose delicious little buggers. QR would usually be there and we would spent several hours dipping and cussingtrying to get enough shrimp for dinner. It was never dull with QR around. He will be greatly missed, especially atthe reunions.

There will be a Memorial Service for Miami PD Motorman Q. R. Aukamp at the Miami Police Benevolent Hall,2300 NW 14 Street, Miami, on Sunday, February 13th at 2PM. QR's Wife, Barbara and Daughter, Sandra will

be there to celebrate his life with those that knew him and loved him. QR was a longtime active member of theMiami PBA and Miami FOP Walter E. Headley Lodge #20.

Light finger food and refreshments will be served. If you plan on attending please RSVP to the Miami PBA byemail: Miami [email protected] or telephone: 305 634-7521 so they can make food accomodations foreveryone.

Also, if you have any photos other than the above (they have been sent already) that could possibly be used at theMemorial Service, email them to Joe Longueira.Please send the photos one at a time in their lagrgest available file size, up to 5MB so they will project the bestimage on a screen. Please send photos to [email protected]. If you have photos of QR that needscanning, bring them to the PBA Meeting this Wednesday, Feb 9th and he will get them scanned.

Nancy, there is no funeral. But part of QR's ashes are being buried at the military cemetery in Lantana, part in theEverglades, and part placed on his parent's grave in Pa. At Lantana full military honors are being planned.

QR was a wonderful person...I got to know him better after his retirement and he always was a thoughtful andfunny guy...he will be missed but he has earned his reward...I am sure that he is at peace and now no longersuffers the pain, both physical and mental, of the big C...regrettably I will be out of town this weekend but will bethere in Spirit...

SB #2011 – 01 Date: February 11, 2011

Retired Police Officer Quentin Rudolph Aukamp passed away on, February 5, 2011. He was 79 years of age.Police Officer Aukamp was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on November 6, 1932. He joined the Miami PoliceDepartment on February 28, 1955, and retired from the department on November 4, 1991 after 36 years ofhonorable service. He was an active member of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #20 and the Miami

Police Benevolent Association.Officer Aukamp was a career Enforcement Officer (Motor Man) and a recent review of his personnel file inpreparation for his memorial service revealed that he was commended on multiple occasions for responding toBOLO’s, locating and apprehending offenders, many who were armed. He is survived by his wife Barbara,daughters Sandra and Norma, son Bruce, and several grandchildren.A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2011, at the Miami Police Benevolent Hall, located at2300 NW 14 Street at 2:00 p.m.

The Ceremony went very well. Many speakers-----main one Don March but all was a beautiful tribute to QR.Family was very pleased. Turn out was great. Many from out of town such as Jacksonville and GA. Also westcoast of FL as well as North Central ! The PBA hosted this ceremony and my hats off to Gerry Green andespecially his wife Kathy for her effort in the food preparation. The ENTIRE Motor Squad was present. HonorGuard Richard Gentry and Tina Duncan were in excellent form. I always said they are second to NONE! This isbasically it . I am not going into every detail but it can be figured out. QR was one hellava man. There is no otherguy like him. Gerry Green and FOP Pres. Armando Aguilar also spoke on QR. I couldn't w/o getting emotionaland several did. No one could say anything "bad" about QR. I believe if I had to say something that was"negative" about him.....he was a wonderful man. That is the worst I can say about him. He certainly was well loveand sorely missed. God Bless you QR .

Thanks Eddie for the report on the memorial service. I wish I could have been there. I sent Joe Longueira everypicture I could find of QR...I almost mentioned here that I really enjoyed QR's friendship in good times and bad, and when I thought about it,there were no bad times. I cannot think of a time I never had a problem or questioned QR. He was a great guy...The motor squad being present had to be really impressive... and glad everyone gave him a great tribute.I never met his family, but I am sure they are happy with the last days QR spent and that a deserving tribute wasgiven to him.I will miss him. Wish I could have gave him one of those "man" hugs before he passed.

I must tell you all that I wasn't close to Q,R. till he retired and I got to befriend him at FOP and PBA events.The guy was a man's man and a real good friend. I wont try and add to such eloquent praises but I do want tothank the PBA and everyone involved.

I personally thanked Chief Don Marsh not just for this event but for always being present!I thanked Jerry and Joe. THE PBA IS FIRST CLASS...

I got to meet his family and his wife Barbara.A very sweet lady who allowed me to take his flag outside and takepictures. I gave her a hug and a kiss.

It was a very moving ceremony and I had tears more than once. Very good speakers who spoke from the heart.You can tell the guy was a winner!!

I wish I could have known him when he was younger,what a character,lol

The place was packed with so many different folks and yes,many old and new motormen.If we could only love each other and show this fellowship while we are still alive?I hope his death will awaken everyone to the need for LOVE and FELLOWSHIP.

God has our friend now so untill we meet again and God bless you all.
