LEST WE FORGET
A Prayer for Remembrance Day
For those who were killed in battle,
For those who gave up their lives to save others,
For those who fought because they were forced to fight,
For those who died standing up for a just cause,
For those who said that war is wrong,
For those who tried to make peace,
For those who prayed when others had no time to pray,
For all humankind
Let us quietly pray:
May our God hold them in peace,
May love flow over the earth and cleanse us all.
This day and for all days
AMEN
A Message from the Principal
This morning, staff and students gathered to observe Remembrance Day and
remember those men and women in the armed forces who died in the line
of duty. I was so proud to see our students standing respectfully and listening to the the prayer and to the Year 5/6
students who so beautifully sang Here You Lie [Side by Side] by Mark Puddy.
The foundation students had made their own red poppies and were proudly wearing them on their uniforms.
Thank you also to Bailey Bartel and Ellie Ryan, who represented our College this morning as they laid a wreath of
remembrance at the Woodland Grove Memorial. They were wonderful ambassadors for our College.

YES, WE’VE GOT BEANS; Fresh beans, green beans, long wiggly lean beans ……
During Term 2, Mrs Clarke and the Foundation students planted broad bean seeds in our school’s veggie patch and
watched them grow into marvellous bean stalks!
Last week they finally found that their beans had grown and were ready for picking. Everyone had a great time
harvesting the beans to take home to show their parents. Some students even cooked them for dinner.

YEARS 7/8 ‘COWS CREATE CAREERS’ PROJECT – FRAYNE COLLEGE AN AWARD WINNER
Our Year 7 and 8 students had a fantastic day at the Cows Create Careers presentation awards. I was very proud of
their exemplary behaviour and the way they supported each other and participated in the team activities - which
were a lot of fun, if not a little out of their comfort zone.
The excellent teamwork, organisation and effort by students in completing the competition requirements (submitting a
science report, research report, formal letter and team photo) paid off, with our school winning the Junior Secondary
School Competition. The Junior School award was given to the school that submitted the overall consistently highest
quality entries. Along with a framed award, we received a cheque for $500 for our school.
Special congratulations go to Team Moodini (Riley, Keith, Ty, Eathan and Jack) for coming third in the Teams
Competition and Team Milkoliscious (Lilly, Jess, Cleo, Chantelle and Monique) for winning the Best Team Photo.
Well done everyone!
...Now on to the fun part of deciding how to spend the money!

WE ARE ONLY WEEKS AWAY FROM THE END OF TERM, BUT WE’VE STILL PLENTY TO LEARN
It’s only 5 weeks until the end of the 2015 school year and a lovely Summer holiday break!
But we’ll be busy right up to the final day – our staff are still engaging our students in learning and every class is
involved in completing their 2015 studies and preparing for 2016.
With this in mind, our teachers would like to remind parents that all classroom rolls are taken at 8.45am each morning
and that late arrivals do inevitably cause disruption.

WATCH OUT FOR ‘BITERS’ AND ‘STINGERS’ IN THE PLAYGROUND
It is that time of the year when the bees are out buzzing and the ants are out soldiering on to greater
things! As a consequence, students need to be careful where they walk, sit and rest their hands.
Playground and Office staff are able to administer Stingose, a soothing gel and/or an icepack, but these
treatments may not always be effective, particularly if your child is prone to suffering an allergic reaction.
Please remind your children to be careful around the playground between now and the end of term.
Year 3/4 Colourful Bird-houses With Felt Birds
Our Year 3/4 classes were asked to make a bird house, We followed a design brief that gave us the measurements to use.. The width of the bird house was 20cm. The height was 25cm and the roof was a 45 degree angle. We were first asked to make our design in grey lead , Then we went over it with oil pastel and finally we coloured it with all colours of paint.
In the next lesson we learnt how to use wool to make felt. Then we dry-felted our own bird , Some people felted feathers into their bird. The next week we stuck on eyes and pasted it on our birdhouses . They look fantastic !
