Monday 23rd
November 2015 Edition 38 Week 8 Term 4
On my morning walk around the school last week I popped
into most classrooms and I was proud to see the outstanding work from all students. 2A was busily engaged
in reading groups with all students working and learning.
They have produced the most amazing projects on how they
have grown and changed.
1S were so proud of
their hard work and keen to show me how
they have improved
in reading and writing.
3R was writing and
keen to put pen to
paper about what they had been up to
recently. I had the
privilege of watching 3-4R perform their
assembly item for
me, as I was at a Principal’s meeting and missed it. It was great!
When I popped into 5G I found the ‘mind break’ too
challenging, having to coordinate left and right hands and
fingers proved far too difficult for me.
Year 6 was busy
learning songs for the
end of year function.
The school is busy and
all staff and students
are working every
minute to ensure great learning is happening in
all classrooms, every
day.
WHITE RIBBON DAY On Thursday a group of helpers will be
selling cupcakes at the school canteen
to raise money for White Ribbon Day.
They will be on sale at recess time
only. Bring along some money to buy
cakes for this cause.
This week we will have
Ghana Beat My Drum
performing in the school hall
at 2pm on Thursday. The cost
will be $4.00 if not covered
by FranklinCover.
Ghana came to Franklin School last year and the students
were fully engaged and had a great time playing the
drums and learning about a different culture.

Circus Skills Come to Franklin! Last Wednesday students from Kindergarten to Year 2 enjoyed a sunny day full of exciting activities! Infant students enthusiastically participated in a variety of fun circus tabloid activities which included
opportunities to develop skills with the parachute, hula hoops, kites and ribbons. The spirit of sportsmanship and fun was evident by the amount of cheering coming from the classes! Students cooled down with a special
treat after lunch. During the afternoon session they were entertained by Heidi Hodeo’s Circus Rodeo Performance and her zany costumes, circus skills, shadow puppets, neon hoops and magic rope!

In 2M this term we are studying a unit called ‘Watch it Grow.’ We are learning about the life cycle of Mealworms and how
living things grow and change. We discovered that Mealworms start as an egg. When they hatch they are called Mealworms.
Then they start to pupate then they turn into the Darkling Beetle
Lavina and Sienna investigating the Darkling Beetles.
We have been participating in writing and reading groups. We have been working on our comprehension skills, writing
entertaining stories, finding facts about animals, working on the XOs and working on our reading skills and strategies.
Matthew, Preston,
Jessica and Lucy
working on the
XOs.
Adrian and Kian are busy finding
amazing facts about animals.
