Monday 10th
August 2015 Edition 25 Week 5 Term 3
Last week Stage 2 and 3
classes held our school
‘Spelling Bee’. The
competition was close with
Mckenna Stafford and
Anisha O’Brien
becoming our Stage 2
winners and Sophie Day
and Molly Curll our Stage 3 winners. These students will
now go to the next round of the competition.
Last Tuesday afternoon we
held our 2016 information
evening for new students.
This was a great event with
many first time families
attending Franklin School.
We welcomed
representatives from the
SaCC facility, Live Life
Well. After School Care,
Swans, our P&C, office
staff along with
presentations about great
programs we run at
Franklin such as
How2Learn, PBL,
Reading Recovery, L3,
L2, TENS, technology display and extra curricula activities.
A special thanks to all the staff who attended the event and
worked hard to ensure it was a
success.
DRIVING AND PARKING SAFELY NEAR THE
SCHOOL School opening and closing hours are busy times for
pedestrian and vehicular traffic outside the school.
Always take extra care in 40km/h school zones, which
operate on gazetted school days. Park safely even if it means walking further to the school gate. Observe all parking signs.
They are planned with children’s safety in mind. NEVER
double park as it puts children at risk. Model safe and considerate behaviour for your child – they will learn from
you.
Slow down near the school crossing.
Always park and turn legally
around the school. Avoid
dangerous manoeuvres such as U-turns and three-point turns.
Always give way to
pedestrians particularly when entering and leaving driveways.
Avoid parking across the school driveway or the entrance to
the school car park. Avoid parking in or near the school bus area.
STOP! One step back from the kerb.
LOOK! For traffic to your right, left and right again. LISTEN! For the sounds of approaching traffic.
THINK! Whether it is safe to cross.

Bear performance. The cost
will be $30. If you have paid

Adapted from the best-selling book, The Very Cranky Bear, by Nick Bland
Zebra, Lion and Moose each think they know how to
solve the Bear's crankiness but their shenanigans just make him even crankier! It takes a humble and
empathetic Sheep with an open heart and listening ear to
solve the Bear's woes.

Our Chemical Science unit this term is called, ‘ALL MIXED UP’ and we have been having lots of fun learning to work in teams. One student is the manager and one student is the speaker.
Riley and Carley are observing a mixture using a magnifying
glass.
Preston and Fredy have noticed changes in their mixture.
Sienna and Mia have been discussing how the
mixture has changed.
Next week Stage 3 students will be attending
their excursion to Victoria. This will be an
amazing opportunity for your child to learn
about Australia’s unique history.
