Dear Parent/Guardian:

We, at Franklin Elementary School, want to provide the safest environment for our

students and faculty while on campus. COVID-19 has presented us with many new

challenges, and we have worked diligently to understand the necessary steps to take to

reduce the likelihood of exposure here on campus.

We have evaluated and implemented physical configuration changes, technology

changes, as well as new cleaning protocols for when we return to campus. These

changes will assist us with ensuring social distancing, reduced physical contact,

immediate notification if a potential exposure is identified, as well as contact tracing if

exposure takes place.

As part of our journey of returning to school in the safest environment possible,

Redlands Unified School District has chosen to implement a tool that will enable you to

answer health prescreening questions for your students prior to sending them to

campus. We ask that you complete the prescreening questions every school day before

bringing your student to campus. If your response to any of the prescreening questions

identifies a potential risk, the district recommends that the student remain home and

not come to campus that day.

Parent/Community FAQs District Name: Raptor Remote Student Prescreening Process – Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why has the district chosen to implement a remote process for prescreening students? The safety of the district’s students, guardians, faculty, and community members continues to be our top priority. Implementing a tool that allows us to prescreen students prior to their arrival on campus enables us to limit exposure and therefore mitigate as much risk as we can. This tool is one of the many enhancements we have made to ensure our school environment is as safe as possible when we return to campus.

2. What steps do I need to take to complete the prescreening process for my student? Every individual who is listed as a guardian on the student’s record will receive an e-mail containing a prescreening link prior to the beginning of each school day. All emails will arrive prior to 5am (Only if we have a valid email on record). At least 1 guardian will need to complete the prescreening questions each school day prior to sending your child to campus. After you select the link and confirm the student you are submitting for, you will be asked to answer up to 5 prescreening questions with a “Yes” or “No” response. Following your response, you will have the opportunity to provide a note or comments. You will then receive a recommendation regarding whether your student should be sent to campus based on your responses.

3. What questions will I be required to answer? The prescreening questions include:

• Have you had a new fever (over 100.4F or higher) or a sense of having a fever?

• Have you had a cough that you cannot attribute to another health condition?

• Have you had shortness of breathe that you cannot attribute to another health condition?

• Have you had a sore throat, diarrhea or vomiting that you cannot attribute to another health condition?

• Have you had muscle aches that you cannot attribute to another health condition

or that may have been caused by a specific activity (such as physical exercise)?

4. When will this process begin? Monday, April 5th for Elementary, and on the first day of return for Secondary.

5. Will the results be kept confidential? Yes – The responses will be kept confidential and are only available to the appropriate personnel at your child’s school.

6. What happens if I accidently forget to complete and my student arrives on campus? No worries, you will be asked the questions when you arrive on campus.

7. If I am responsible for multiple students, will I have to complete the process multiple times? You will be asked to answer the questions for each student however you will be able to facilitate simultaneously through the same link.

8. If a recommendation is provided that my child should remain home from campus that day, do I still need to call/notify the school? District should customize according to attendance policy.

9. I accidently answered a question incorrectly, how can I update my answer? Please reselect the link from the daily e-mail and complete the prescreening survey again. Your answers will automatically update.

10. I have opted to keep my child home for the foreseeable future and opt into virtual learning, is there a way I can opt out of these e-mails, so I am not receiving on a daily basis? Yes – Simply select unsubscribe in the body of the e-mail. You will need to re-subscribe when your student returns to campus.

11. What should I do if I did not receive the daily e-mail? Please start by checking your junk or spam folder to ensure it was not accidently filtered. If you are unable to locate the email in either folder, please contact your child’s school to ensure we have the correct e-mail address on file.

12. I accidently selected unsubscribe, who should I notify so that I can begin receiving e-mails again? Please contact your child’s school and they will facilitate internally.
