Diary
Welcome to Week 7 of Term 1. Only a short newsletter this week as we had no computers yesterday
and we are running a little short on time!
Congratulations to our Open’s and Under 11’s Rugby League players who attended the District Trials
on Thursday. All boys who attended were selected and will now participate in the MNC Trials in Coffs
Harbour on Friday 18th March. Notes have gone home and should be returned to school as soon as
possible.
The Nambucca Valley Junior Rangers are coming to our school this term with some wonderful activi-
ties for the kids. With a cultural and environmental focus, the Junior Ranger Program is supported
through our school by Mrs Bekis and Aunty Nerida. Keep an eye on the newsletter for more infor-
mation as activities are finalised.
Our last ‘meet the teacher’ meetings were held on Thursday with several Kindergarten parents and
carers making the most of the opportunity to meet their child’s teacher and find out how they can
help out at home with their child’s learning. Parent/teacher interviews will be held this term in Week
10 or 11. This is a chance for you to have a one on one meeting with your child’s teacher and find out
just where they are at with their learning and where they need to move to next. Notes will come
home in the next few weeks, so please be sure to choose a time that suits you and return the book-
ing form to school.
Thursday was a busy day for our school last week as it also saw SCB students head off to Bellingen for
a wonderful day visiting sites from our local community that really bring the curriculum to life. By all
accounts Mrs Inchley and the kids had a great day.
On Friday, we farewelled our very special Practicum student, Donna Baldwin. Donna has been an
SLSO at our school for several years now, but has been studying teaching at the same time. With this
last practicum she has almost finished her teacher training. We are very proud of her efforts and it
was great to see her in a variety of different classrooms in a completely different role. I am sure that
we will see Donna around our school casual teaching at some time in the near future.
Our school resembled an ant colony on Monday with all the kids involved in Clean Up Australia Day
in the afternoon. Classes were allocated different sectors and rubbish was collected from around our
school environment. Well done to all involved!
Year 6 applications for Year 7 placement in 2017 will go out today. Parents and carers of year 6 stu-
dents are asked to complete the ‘Expression of Interest’ and return it to school as soon as possible.
This Friday is the MNC Soccer Trials in Coffs Harbour. Our own Josh Munro will be trialling, which is
very exciting. Mr Lambert will be in attendance with his district team.
Our Fun 7’s Day is also being held at Coronation Park on Friday. There are about 40 boys and girls
involved in this fun filled day. The focus is on participation and fun and I am sure we will all have a
great time.
Have a great week. Todd.
