Diary Welcome to Week 9 of Term 1.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate 6/5F on their efforts on Friday. As a
class we participated in a range of activities designed to test and develop their leader-
ship skills and ability to make responsible decisions in a variety of environments. Every
student stepped up and made the conscious decision to be responsible for their choices
and really set a standard for what we can expect from our Stage 3 students now. Well
done to everyone involved. You are certainly setting a great example for your peers.
Thanks also to Aunty Nerida for all of her support throughout the day.
On Monday we had 6 of our school media buffs head to Bowraville Military Museum to
begin pulling together their digital media report which is titled “Living Histories” and
focussed on interviews with local returned service men and women. Mrs Leahy and Mrs
Parkins have been doing all of the ground work needed to get this project up and run-
ning and it is exciting to see some of our history coming to life!
Mrs Bekis and Pete will be supporting 6 of our students at the SLIKK Stage 3 camp in
Scott’s Head for the first 3 days this week. The kids are excited and I am sure that they
will have a great time.
Today Stage 2 walked down to Bellwood for a cultural experience with Chelsea the
Ranger. All students gained a some real insight into the history of the island and what it
means to our local Indigenous families. It is exciting to see Stage 2 involved in such a real
and living version of the curriculum.
Mrs Coulter flew down to a conference in Sydney today to make sure our Library is top
notch each and every day. I am sure she will return with lots of great ideas for 2018!
Our Support kids will be heading over to a Multi Sports Day in Coffs Harbour on Tuesday.
They have been training the house down each Thursday afternoon and are ready to take
on all comers throughout the day.
Our famous Easter Hat Parade will be on again on Thursday. The parade begins at
2:15pm and will be finished by 3:00. All parents and carers are encouraged to come
along and check out the incredible hats as each class parades around the quad. The P&C
Easter Raffle will also be on again so come along and get your tickets in!
Keep your eye out for Parent/Carer meetings with your child’s teacher. A note will come
home in the next couple of weeks with times and dates. This is a great opportunity for
you to come along and meet with your child’s teacher one on one and discuss their
learning goals for the year.
Just a reminder that there will be no school on Friday of this week or Monday of next

We are still needing donations of Easter eggs and goodies for our Easter raffle. If there are any students who have
sold all their tickets, there are more available from the Front Office if you would like them.
Friendship and Futures Room
Your Body Your Decision Your Choice Your Future
Stage 2 and 3 are looking at the organs and what foods are necessary to keep them in good working order. The
students are fascinated by the function of the organs in the body and we will continue to discuss this next term.
This week Stage 3 are going to DARE TO BE DIFFERENT with some new taste sensations; tahina, tzatziki, hummus
and kalamata olives. They will also be designing a healthy wrap.
Stage 2 are enjoying pumpkin soup with wholemeal grain rolls and thinking about GOOD, BETTER, BEST when it
comes to food choices. Bread is good, wholegrain is better, wholemeal is best.
Stage 1 will be enjoying oat, yoghurt and berry smoothies and listening to a story about Conductive Hearing Loss.
