Family Fun Night Rehearsals!
Welcome to Week 3 of Term 1. Hope everyone managed to stay dry over the weekend.
Our Meet the Teacher afternoons are now in full swing. Please take the opportunity to pop in
on the relevant afternoon and find out a little more about your child’s teacher, their class, their
stage and our school.

Please be sure to ring and make an appointment to catch up with your child’s teacher if these
times do not suit.
Our Kindi kids are powering through their Best Start Assessments over the next few weeks.
This assessment is done across the state and is a great way for us to target the next sequential
step in your child’s learning even from this early age. If you have any questions about Best
Start or any of our school assessment strategies, please do not hesitate to contact me or your
child’s teacher.
Stage 2 will be participating in an online learning module on Cyber Safety this Thursday. This is
a great initiative and something that we cannot be too careful with. I am sure that the kids will
come home with lots of strategies to share with their families.
Mrs Daley and Mr Moseley attended the first “Show Time” planning meeting for 2020. Our kids
will be joining all of the schools in the Nambucca Valley to produce a trip back into the 80’s in
the all dancing, all singing extravaganza to be held at Macksville High auditorium on July 30th,
Term 3. All of our students will be involved and we are so excited to be getting them back on
stage! Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
Unfortunately we had some damage caused at our school over the weekend. Nothing major
but disappointing. Those involved are showing no respect for our Newville community and the
kids that go to our school every day. The cost of the damage means money cannot be spent on
new resources and experiences for our kids. They deserve more respect than this and frankly,
so does our local community. I hope that the people responsible understand the effects of
their actions.
Finally, this Friday, we will be heading over to Macksville Pool for our Annual Swimming Carni-
val. All children turning 8 Years this year and older are encouraged to attend as there will be
suitable events and activities for all abilities. Parents and carers are encouraged to come along
and cheer our swimmers on, or help out with time keeping and judging. Our newly elected
House Captains have been busily preparing their banners and posters and I am sure we are in
for a cracking day.
Please return all money and notes to school as soon as possible. All students Yrs 3-6 will be
attending the pool on Friday, regardless of their permission to swim. There will be no staff

Library News
Welcome to the new school year, especially to new students and families. Come on up!
Our Library is OPEN! Students may visit before school Tuesday to Thursday and at lunchtimes each day. Parents
and families are very welcome to visit on the above mornings before school also.
Please encourage your child to borrow from the Library each week. K-2 students are required to have a Library
bag; this is not compulsory for Years 3-6. I would like to thank Tracy Anlezurk, (Breeze 4/3W) for her very kind do-
nation of Library bags. Tracy has spent considerable time over the holidays creating these delightful and practical
Library bags for our students. They are for sale at the Library for $1 with all proceeds going to the Library. Be quick!
Issue 1 of Bookclub has been made available to students and orders are due by this Friday 14th February. Orders
can be done online via LOOP or by sending payment to school. If sending cash, please have your child take their
order to the Front Office as soon as they arrive at school. Orders should be in an envelope, clearly marked with
child’s name and class.
Mrs Coulter
Remaining at school from the Yrs 3-6 classes and we will need lots of helpers anyway. Even if your child is a hesi-
tant swimmer, please encourage them to bring along their swimmers and a towel as we will support them to grow
in confidence throughout the day.
Have a great week. Todd.
We are loving Library learning!
