1. Make sure the bottom number (denominators) are the same.

2. Add the top numbers (the numerators) and put them on the denominator.

3. Simplify the fraction (if needed.)

For Example: ¾ + 6/10 = ?Follow the easy steps to get the answer of

54/40Or to simplify it make it 1 14/40

2. Subtract the top numbers or numerators and put it over the denominator.

3. Simplify the problem.

For example: ¾ - ½ = ?Follow the easy steps to get the answer of

¼.4 x 2 = 8 (3x2=6) (1x4=4) 6-4=2 2/8 = ¼
