Del Escritorio del Padre José. El hombre que nació ciego y fue sanado por Jesús en nuestro Evangelio de hoy es un milagro que siempre me recuerda sobre la importancia de estar abiertos a nuevas interpretaciones. La ceguera física que este hombre experimentaba lo afligía y era algo
que sólo él podía sentir y pasar. Escuchamos a diferentes personajes en el Evangelio, desde aquellos que lo sabían todo y aquellos que juzgaban la ley e incluso a su familia y cómo todos ellos no entendieron el punto sobre esa aflicción tan personal. El era ciego y los demás no lo eran. Jesús simplemente caminó con él e hizo algo muy personal (lo tocó) y lo sanó. Al meditar este Evangelio, recordemos que no debemos ser muy prontos a expresar o juzgar cuando decimos "entendemos lo que sientes" cuando los demás están pasando por algo. ¡No lo sabemos! Tal vez sentimos pena por su aflixión o su dolor pero lo único que podemos hacer es confiarlos a Dios que es Aquel que nos sostiene. Oremos por los demás para llevar sus oraciones y las nuestras al Señor que lo VE todo. Fraternalmente, Padre José.
From the desk of Padre Jose, The man born blind and healed by Jesus in our Gospel today is one miracle that always reminds me of the importance of being open to a new interpretation. The physical blindness that this man was afflicted with and experienced was something that he alone was able to feel and go through. We hear the different characters in the Gospel, from those in the known and those judging the law and even his family, how they all missed the point about that very personal affliction. He was blind and they were not. Jesus simply walked with the man and did something very personal -touched him- and healed him. As we meditate on this Gospel, let us remind ourselves not to be too quick to express or judge that “we know how you feel” when others are going through something. We don’t! We may feel for their affliction or pain but we can only trust them to God who is the One who carries us all. Let us pray for each other and lift each others' prayers to the Lord who SEES everything. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday-These are days of fast and abstinence from meat. There is a limit of one full meal on these days for all between the ages of 18yrs. – 59yrs. inclusive. Days of Abstinence-(All Fridays in Lent) All Catholics who are 14yrs. and older observe the church’s law of not eating meat.
