“Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!” – Luke 1:28

Faith is a gift from God. During this Christmas season take time in silence and pray to God. Thank Him for all the gifts He has given you. Try to set aside any anger or resentment you have and really open your heart to receive the gift of God’s grace.

Every year, the migrant and refugee program offers assistance to more than 600 refugees in Wyandotte and Johnson Counties, including approximately 300 refugees arriving directly from overseas. These refugees arrive with little more than the clothes on their backs and significant needs: housing, employment , and education, as well as social and emotional support. Working with Catholic Charities’ staff, these refugees strive to acclimate to the United States, obtain employ-ment and have the opportunity to raise their families without the fear of persecution. In the past year, refugees from Burma, Burundi, Somalia, Bhutan, Iraq and Sudan found employment, largely in meatpacking, warehouses or the service industry. Please donate to the Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas Christmas collection. There is an envelope in your packet.

Thank you! “We can certainly call you friends because of the way you care for our retired members,” writes a religious brother. Your gift to last week’s collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious benefits some 35,000 senior sisters, brothers, and religious order priests. May God bless you for your generosi-ty!

CHRISTMAS TIME A GLAD TIME or A SAD TIME The holiday times are joyous for most people filled with good times with family and friends. To listen, to be understanding, and just be there for you? If so, consider calling upon Stephen Ministry. We care. Our ministry is confidential. To get more information or to arrange for a Stephen Minister call David Chaffee at (913) 317-8393. God Bless.

ARE YOU MOVING? CHANGING ADDRESSES?

YOU CAN HELP!!! When moving out of the Parish or just changing your address can be costly if you fail to notify us. The Post Office does not forward 3rd class mail. Your envelopes will be returned to Holy Spirit at an additional cost to the parish. After correcting the change we have to mail them out to you again (1st Class). Although it may be a small amount, it adds up, so please, take the time to call us at 492-7318. We appreciate your help.

SISTER M. TERESA, FSGM DIRECTOR of

School of Religion

From Pope Francis “I wish you a holy and happy Christmas.

When we turn on the lights of the tree, we want the light of Christ to be in us. A Christmas without light isn't Christmas.

So let there be light in our souls, in our hearts; let there be our forgiveness for others; and let there not be hatred, for this is darkness. Let there be the light of Jesus, which is so beautiful. This is my wish for all of you. Many thanks for your gift – it's beautiful. And I give you my warmest tidings of peace and happiness.

If you have something dark on your soul, ask the Lord's forgiveness. This is a beautiful chance Christmas gives us – to clean up our souls, eh! Don't be afraid – the priest is merciful, he forgives everything in the name of God, because God forgives everything. May the light be in your hearts, in your families, in your cities. And now, with this wish, let's turn on the lights. May almighty God bless you, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Merry Christmas and pray for me!” Pope Francis, December 8, 2014
