    Fourth Sunday of Advent

    December 20, 2020

  • Dear Brothers and Sisters, “I will honor Christmas in my heart and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach!” These words come towards the end of A Christmas Carol, as Ebenezer Scrooge experiences his conversion and sees the importance of changing his life. These words appear to me to be such a prayer of hope, that all of us as Christians should make as we experience the Holy Trinity working through us and the world since the beginning of time. Christmas is more than just one day or one season, as Jesus Christ is with us every day! I cannot believe we are already on the Fourth Week of Advent. I think I appreciate Advent more now, and I wish it were longer. The expectation of the coming of Jesus is something that makes us long for the future because we know something great will come. This excitement can easily fade away after Christmas, and we have to work hard to keep Jesus alive in our hearts. This is something I often turn to the Blessed Mother to help me with in this situation. We hear the beautiful “Fiat” of our Blessed Mother today in our Gospel, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your Word.” In Mary’s “Yes,” to the angel, she is not just saying that for one day or one week. She is giving her total being to God for life; for the good and the bad. She makes that pledge to keep Christmas alive every day as she lives with the presence of Jesus. We too have to make that promise and commitment. We have not only been visited by God, but He has made us a permanent dwelling where He can be with us constantly. God’s presence with us is a great gift that we need to keep alive in our heart. May we honor Christmas and Christ’s presence with us not only this week, but each day of our lives. God Bless you and your family, Father Adam

Dios te bendiga a ti y a tu familia, Padre Adam
