It is the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes Foundation to support the aims of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes by acquiring the necessary financial resources to meet local youth service needs.
Foundations Fall 2015
Team Steffie Donates $120,000 in the Last 5 Years! For the fifth year, Mike Fiorini (Cable Cable) and Team Steffie have taken a three day, 500km cycle
tour from Lindsay, Ontario to Mount Tremblant, Quebec. In Partnership with its Avenue for Kids
project, Team Steffie raised, this year, $46,000. This brings their five year total to over $120,000
for the Clubs’ Susan DeNure Sports program. The donation provides over 1,700 kids affordable
and subsidized access to our Susan DeNure Sports Programs: Biking Camp, Steve Nash Basketball,
Mega Hoops and Ball Hockey in nine communities.
Team Steffie is part of the Team Steffie Foundation, an incorporated, not-for-profit organization, created in honour of
Stephani Ann Fiorini-Kinley, who passed away suddenly at the age of 37. Team Steffie is a group of like-minded individuals
who participate in fundraising events for local community groups in her name. Stephanie’s family and good friends are
involved in the team and feel her concern for children having avenues available for them to grow and develop in a positive
manner would be the best focus.
Team Steffie wants to thank their title sponsors: DeNure Tours, Cable Cable, Polito Ford and the Fairmount Hotels for their support. The Clubs and Foundation wish to thank Team Steffie for their continued commitment to provide
affordable sports opportunities for kids in the community through the Susan DeNure Sports program.
Team Steffie to Donate $50,00 Over 5 Years for the Leadership for Life ProgramThe Boys & Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes is excited to launch the Leadership for Life Program through the support of
Team Steffie and Avenues for Kids. The launch of Leadership for Life will combine Boys & Girls Clubs programs (Torch
Club, Leader in Training, Get B.U.S.Y., and Keystones), training programs, academic and life supports. The intent of the
program is to provide the knowledge, skills and experiences that will support youth to become successful members of the
community for life. With a holistic approach the Clubs will be positioned to support youth to become future leaders of
our community. We believe that through genuine youth engagement young people can gain skills and knowledge to be
leaders in their community and to their peers.
The Clubs and Foundation thank Team Steffie for supporting youth in our community!
President’s MessageGreetings on behalf of the Foundation Board. Throughout 2015, the continued support received by the Clubs’ sponsors, donors and all those who support and participate in our annual campaigns and events have assisted in the ability to
provide “a good place to be” for our children and youth.
As always a highlight this summer for the Foundation was the annual Jeff Beukeboom Charity Classic golf tournament. Through the generosity of the Beukeboom family and the support of participants, this event once again provided a substantial financial contribution towards our fundrais-ing efforts. We also thank those who participated and supported our Kelli Mitchell annual ball tournament and those who responded to the annual mailing. “In From the Cold”, is an upcoming fundraising campaign which will launch in December. Its focus is on before and after school programming offered by the Clubs and the importance of keeping this affordable to families so that no child is ever turned away.
We also look forward to our slate of events in 2016, including
an exciting new event in March with our Shamrock Sprint.
With a little touch of the Irish, this will be an official chip
timed 5km and 10km race route through the town of
Lindsay. This event along with all our fundraising efforts
affords us the ability to provide financial support for the
broad scope of services provided by the Clubs, ranging
from childcare, before and after school care, arts and athletic
programs, day camps, youth outreach and mentoring.
The Clubs continue to celebrate success in delivering
in their mission to provide a safe and fun place for over
7,700 local pre-school, school-age children and youth.
I encourage your support and participation of our current and future fundraising initiatives so that the Clubs are not limited but can continue to provide services and program
offerings to our City of Kawartha Lakes communities.
