Novice Track & Field Activity #470Our track program is very popular for boys and girls Kindergarten through 6th grade. Youth will learn the basicsof track and field through practice sessions held on Monday evenings from 6-7pm at Phillips Middle Schooltrack. Practices will consist of conditioning, stretching, short sprints, long runs, relays, shuttle relays, long jump,and shot put. Practices will lead up to a “mini track meet” May 14th.

M A Y A C T I V I T I E SAdult Disc Golf Summer League Activity #537Come play the historic Snell-Crawford Disc Golf Course! The course, established in 1979, has beenplayed by beginners and experienced players for years. Back, after a few years hiatus, is our Disc GolfLeague. Sign up your two person team, either coed or single gender. All participants will play the sameholes and yardages. Both players’ scores are counted each week—going towards weekly and seasonindividual and team honors. Low team wins prizes for nightly and end of season scores. A minimum of 10teams is necessary to hold this league, so get a team, and get registered. The proceeds of this leaguewill go to help in the costs to renovate the baskets, signage, and course itself. Compete against other teams battling for top team honor and prizemoney. Records will be kept each week and tallied for an end of the season tournament. The matches willtake place at Harlan Rogers, (near Diamonds 4, 5 & 6) on Mondays and/or Thursdays, to coincide with slow-pitch softball nights. The concession stand and Beer Cave (21 years & up) will be open during this activity.Matches will be scheduled every 15 minutes and winners report scores to concession worker after completionof match.

J U N E A C T I V I T I E SJunior Golf Clinic Activity #542 & #543Lakeside’s individual youth golf clinics are designed for the young player looking to either learn the game ofgolf or continue to improve their game. Etiquette, putting, swings, and the basic skills of golf will be taught.This 8-day clinic will utilize the putting green as well as the driving range. Golfers will be given the opportunity toput their skills together during a few holes throughout the program. Clubs needed: 1 or 3 wood, 3 or 5 iron, 7 or9 iron and a putter.

Disc Golf Course Improvement Tournament Activity # 539Help, Play, Renovate. Be one of the 36 players in our 2012 C.I.T! The Parks FoundationThe Parks Foundation was formed in2002 to strengthen and enrich the parksystem in Fort Dodge by providingsupplementary funds. These funds willbe used for trees, shrubs, flowers,signage and other enhancements plusmonies for long-range planning andlandscape design. The Parks CommissionThe Parks Commission governs rules andregulations for use of parks, as well asrecreational facilities and recreationprograms. The group serves to advisecouncil on the needed facilities toprovide open space, such as parks,playgrounds and community facilitiesand for other forms of recreation. Thegroup also updates and revise plans asrequired, sets fees for recreationalprograms and makes recommendations

to council for changes in Parks,Recreation and Forestry. Members ofthe Commission include: Steve Daniel,Mark Campbell, Mary Jo Wagner,Michael Payne, Ashley O’Brion, DennisPilcher, Clark Root and Kirk Yung.

Friends of Oleson Park ZooFriends of Oleson Park Zoo is a non-profitcharitable organization that was formedin 2002. The "Friends" own the animals inthe zoo. They acquire new animals aswell as sell surplus animals. The zoo ismaintained by donations andmemberships to Friends of Oleson ParkZoo. Fort Dodge Nature Trail - 3 milesBegins at Williams Drive at Snell-Crawford park entrance and leads northeast tothe city limits ending at Highway D-14. The nature trail is good for walking, biking,jogging, and cross-country skiing.

Soldier Creek Nature Trail - 2.8 milesBegins at Williams Drive and leads southwest under North 3rd Street Bridge toCentral Avenue, then West and North to Hawkeye Avenue Bridge. The trail is 10'wide and asphalted to Central Avenue, switching to concrete from CentralAvenue to Hawkeye Bridge. Good for walking, biking, rollerblading, andskateboarding.

Phinney Park Trail - 1 mileBegins at Phinney Park entrance and leads south along the Des Moines River toAvenue C Hill. The trail is 10' wide and all asphalted. Good for walking, biking,rollerblading, and skateboarding.

32nd Street Trail - 2 milesBegins at 5th Avenue North & 32nd Street. Trail leads North adjacent to 32ndStreet through the roundabout continuing North by the aquatic center to 25thAvenue North. This trail has a future connection to Soldier Creek Trail.

15th Street Trail - 1 mileBegins at the corner of Villiage Inn. Trail continues North to Harlan Rogers.

Non-Resident Fee InformationAll FD Parks & Recreation programs and facilities are fundedby tax supported revenues paid for by the citizens of FortDodge. Therefore a Non-resident fee should be appliedwhere applicable.

Refund/Credit PolicyCash refunds will not be made except in cases where a program/class has been cancelled. A credit on your account will be issued for the full amount to be usedtoward any recreational program within the following 12 months. A credit refund will NOT be issued if a class or activity is considered full. Please remember: it isthe parent/guardian responsibility to remember the dates of programs their child has registered for. Credits will not be issued for missed participation.

Weather CancellationsPrograms that are cancelled or postponed due to inclement weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances beyond our control will be announced assoon as possible. Call 576-6888 for such information. When possible, programs will be rescheduled.

Photo ReleaseOn occasion, our staff may take photographs/videos of participants at FD Parks & Recreation programs and activities. Any photos/videos of participants may beused for future departmental promotional materials.
