During 40 years of ministry, Rev. James Louis Price pas to red the following churches: Roberts Chapel and Buckhorn Churches near Murfreesboro, North Carolina; Bethel Church in Bloxom, Virginia, 1939-1934; First Baptist Church of Siler City, 1934-1941; Penelope Church in Hickory, North Carolina, 1941-1953; and Dudley Shoals Church in Caldwell County, North Carolina for three years.

Rev. Price retired in 1956, but never ceased to study, prepare sermons and preach. He held revival services in several states and frequented college and university campuses as a speaker. Albert Young said of him, "Mr. Price was a preacher's preacher, always ethical, cordial, kind, patient, and innately good. He was compassionate, humble, and understanding with all in all his relationships. He was the dean of pastors in the area at the time of his death.''

After retiring, he made his home in Hickory, North Carolina.

Rev. Carl Lee Ousley 1910- 1972

Carl Lee Ousley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Ousley, was born in Hartsville, South Carolina, but was reared in Buies Creek, Harnett County, North Carolina.

CarlL. Ousley was educated at Buies Creek and graduated from Campbell Junior College. He entered Wake Forest College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He received a Master of Arts degree from Crozer Seminary, Chester, Pennsylvania. He bad two years of graduate study at Duke University.

Before accepting the call to the First Baptist Church of Siler City, Rev. Ousley served as pastor at Clifford, Pennsylvania, and three churches in the Raleigh, North Carolina area. These churches were Wakefield, New Hope, and Inwood.

Rev. Carl Ousley was married to the former Mary Wilton Harper of Wilson, North Carolina. They were the parents of two children: Mrs. Joyce Ousley Rawls and Carl Lee Ousley, Jr.

Apart from his pastoral work, Rev. Ousley was the General Director of the Baptist Training Union for three associations; Little River, Central, and Sandy Creek. He was a Rotarian, a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, and a Scout Master of Troop 24, Siler City, North Carolina. Rev. Ousley served the church during a stressful time of financially trying to retire a church debt. He led the church in doing this and was able to celebrate with his church in burning the church note and mortgage. Rev· Carl Ousley

After leaving Siler City in 1948, Rev. Ousley pas to red at Holland and Sunbeam, Virginia. He was pastoring at Newsom, Virginia at the time of his death, August 20, 1972.

Rev. W.L. lynch

Rev. William Larkin Lynch 1908-

William L. Lynch was born September 8, 1908, in Yadkinville, North Carolina. He was the son of Jesse Thomas Lynch and Ellen Hutchens Lynch who were farmers and the parents of six children.

William Lynch received his education at Yadkinville and attended the Mountain Park Institute in Surry County where he graduated from secondary education in 1927. He attended Campbell Junior College from 1927 to 1929, and then entered Wake Forest College. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1933 and a Master ofTheology degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary at Louisville, Kentucky in 1947.

In 1925, William Lynch was converted and baptized in the Mountain Park Baptist Church in Mountain Park, North Carolina. He was oniained to the ministry in this same church in 1927.

On May 4, 1930, William L. Lynch and Nona Faye Clayton of Mountain Park, North Carolina were married Their three sons are: William David Lynch, Albert Clayton Lynch, and Edward Larkin Lynch.

Rev. Lynch began pastoring churches before his ordination, but his first full-time church was in Jonesville, North Carolina from 1929 to 1931. He did part-time wolk in several churches while he was a student at Wake Forest College. In 1933, he moved to Rochester, New York and attended a division of Colgate University to receive his Bachelor of Divinity degree. While in Rochester, he pastored several churches.

The Rev rend Llewellyn C. ~onhen i7, retired pa t<fr., died in a Richmond hosp1 a! on April 11, 19~2. He was born m Richmond County, \'irginia to A. C. and Catherine S. ~orthen. He "as married to the l:~re C~therine Dickinson.

He recei,·ed his B.A. and .\L-\. degrees from the uni,·ersirv of Richmond in 1919 and 1921, and was among the fir-t graduates of the Uni,:ersity's .\laster of Arts program. /

He arrended Cnion Theological eminary and completed his education with pot-graduate studies at the l.inive¢ry of \ irginia.

1\lr. "'onhen held pastora ar the Four ,\1ile Creek and Stockton Street Baptist Churches in Riehm . He also sen·ed CQurches in Petersburg and Em­poria, Yirginia and the niversity Baptist Church, Charlottesville, \'irginia. In h1s retirement, he sen·ed the Preddy's Creek Baptist Church and Liberty Baptist Church in Albemarle County.

He is survi,·ed by a daughter, \1rs. Hugh T. Brown and a si ter, l\1rs. ). B. Lewis, both of Richmond ; rwo brothers, the Re\·erend Oscar E. :::-iorthen of Rich­mond and Herman C. . 'orthen of Da) rona Beach, florida.

THE REVEREND CARL LEE OU LEY

(1910-1972)

The Reverend Carl Lee Ousley of ~ewsoms, \'irginia died on August 20, 197~ at the age of 62. He was born in Hartsville, South Carolina and was the son of ;\lr. and Mrs. Henry C. Ousley.

He attended Campbell College, "'ake Forest, Korth Carolina and received his .\lA. degree from Crozer Seminary, Chester, Pennsylvania.

l\1r. Ousley served as moderatOr and clerk of the Blackwater Baptist Associa­tion.

He scned churches in Clifford. Pcnnsylnnia; Silver City, 1'-:orth Carolina; Holland, Vrrginia· ?'\ewsoms and unbeam, Yirginia.

J\1r. Ousley is sun-iYed by his wife, the former .\1ary 'Vilton Harper; a son, Carl Lee Ousley, Jr., of Roc'ky .\lount, . 'orth Carolina; and a daughter, Mrs. Emmit L. Rawls, Jr., Franklin, \'irginia.

THE REVERE~D BRUCE B. PERKINS

( 1903-1972)

The Reverend Bruce Perkins, a nati\·e of Danville, \~irginia, died on October 18, 1971. He was born March 16, W03 to Charles A. and Laura .l\1ason Perkins.

He was a graduate of Dam·i!le ~liliury Institute, Uni,·ersity of Richmond, ;nd LouisYille Baptist Theological Seminary.

His pastorates included: Liberty Baptist Church, Dam·ille, Virginia; Marion Bapust Church, Chatham, Yirgfnia; Sr. John's Baptist Church, Princess Anne Courthouse, \•irginia; Beach1awn Baptist Ch rch, \ -irginia Beach, \•irginia.
