Staying strong and steadyThere is a lot of research evidence to show that strength and balance exerciseis very effective in keeping older people strong and steady on their feet andprevents falls.

“Forever Active deliver these classes in the community and inpartnership with the local NHS:

1. Class leaders are trained to deliver safe and effective classes forparticipants.

2. Classes are monitored on a regular basis to ensure they continueto be safe and effective. This means NHS staff can be confident torecommend Forever Active classes to patients once dischargedfrom health services.

3. Forever Active class leaders can refer participants into the NHSquickly should they need additional support, enabling them toremain active and independent.

The relationship between Forever Active, the local NHS and themany older adults who attend and enjoy their classes is invaluable.”

(Jackie Riglin, Falls Prevention Clinical Lead, Clinical SpecialistPhysiotherapist)

“The exercise we discussed were Strength and Balance classes whichwere proven to help reduce the risk of falls, run by Forever Activewho offered exercise to over 50s.

I was nervous about attending my first session with Forever Activeas I had never been to an exercise class before. I didn’t need to benervous though as when I arrived the instructor was very supportive, and the group were very social. I even met an old friend there.

I am continuing to attend the Strength and Balance classes withForever Active and I cannot speak highly enough of their exerciseclasses, it has helped me feel more strong and steady on my feetwhich has lifted my confidence to continue keeping independent.“Monica – to read Monica’s full story of go to: www.everyonehealth.co.uk/monica-goes-from-strength-to-strength/
