• SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL 15
• Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
3
Indicator 15.1.1: Forest area as a proportion of total land area
15.1: By 2020, ensure the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of terrestrial and inland freshwater ecosystems and their services, in particular forests, wetlands, mountains and drylands, in line with obligations under international agreements
http://www.fao.org/sustainable-development-goals/indicators/en/.
15.2: By 2020, promote the implementation of sustainable management of all types of forests, halt deforestation, restore degraded forests and substantially increase afforestation and reforestation globally
5 – Forest area under an independently verified
forest management certification scheme
Indicator 15.2.1: Progress toward sustainable forest management
1 - Forest area annual net change rate
4 – Proportion of forest area under a long-term forest management plan
2 – Above-ground biomass stock in forest
3 – Proportion of forest area located within legally established
protected areas
Thematic element 1 - Extent of forest resources
5

3. Net GHG emissions (source)/removals (sink) of
forests, and carbon balance of harvested wood products (T2)
8. Above-ground biomass stock in forest (T1)
9. Volume of wood removals (T1)
10. Wood based energy share of total final energy
consumption (T2)
Thematic element 5 - Protective function of forest resources
7

Thematic element 6 - Socio-economic functions of forest resources
12. Employment related to the forest sector (T2)
13. Number of forest dependent people in extreme poverty (T3)

2020 Integrated data collection
15
The integrated data collection is done jointly by FOREST EUROPE, FAO and UNECE, through the Liaison Unit Bratislava, the FRA Team and the Joint Forestry and Timber Section
The data will be collected through the interactive on-line FRA platform developed and hosted by FAO, which will include the main reporting module (same for all countries) and an additional component for the Pan-European indicators
National data will be collected through the same (for both processes) national correspondents, assisted in their work by experts designated by the three organizations
