Miss Asia Williams
Miss Asia Williams is a 7th grade student at Jolliff Middle School in Chesapeake, VA with perfect attendance and a member of the Bible Club. She is the granddaughter of Sister Sharon Hainsworth and the great granddaughter of Sister Hattie
McPherson.
Asia’s goal is to become an Art Teacher and help students to learn to draw based on their feelings. Her favorite pastimes are spending the summer with her family and most of all, singing for the Lord.
Asia became a member of the New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville) family in June of 2012 as a candidate for baptism. From that day forth, she has been very active with the Youth Ministry. Asia sings with the Steelettes Youth Choir, dances for the Lord with the Angels with Wings Praise Dance Ministry, serves with the Junior Usher Ministry, Junior Missionary Ministry and attends Vacation Bible School. Asia’s favorite scripture is Psalm 102:1, “Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come unto thee” and her favorite Christian song, “Never Would Have Made It” by Marvin Sapp.
May the Lord continue to hear Asia’s prayers as she encourage her peers through her daily walk of learning more about Jesus Christ and his promises.
To our “Youth in the Spotlight,” Miss Asia Williams, Congratulations!
May God’s spotlight continue to shine brightly upon you.

Sister Inez Chapman
Sister Inez Chapman remembers the day very vividly (December 24, 1961) that she was saved by the Lord’s grace and mercy. Now at the age of 85 years, she has been a member of the New First Baptist Church (Taylorville) family for over 37 years. She has continued to move forward in the Lord’s name and striving each day to do His will.
Sister Chapman, a widow, was the loving and devoted wife of 50 plus years to the late Master Chief Louis Chapman, U.S. Navy. She is a
mother and a grandmother: four children and four grandchildren.
Sister Chapman enjoys reading and embroidery (tablecloths and napkins) and she loves people. She shows her love for the Lord by helping those in need such as giving of food baskets and clothing and assisting with the purchase of medications.
Sister Chapman was introduced to New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville) by the late Sister Lena Phillips. She serves enthusiastically and faithfully with the Female and Combined Ushers Ministries and the Hospitality Ministry. She attends the Sunday Church School Ladies Class #1 and the “High Noon” Prayer Service and Bible Study. Her favorite scripture is Psalm 27, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid . . . ” and her favorite Christian songs are “It’s a Highway to Heaven” and “I Am Redeemed”.
What does Sister Chapman love about New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville): Fellowship and Friendship. Thank you to Sister Chapman for her many years of service to this church family. As she continues her “walk up the King’s highway,” marching for the Lord, may she be blessed with God’s love and his many promises.
Congratulations to our “Senior in the Spotlight,” Sister Inez Chapman. May the Lord’s blessings continue to rain down upon you.
Psalm 27:14, “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.”
