INSTRUCTIONS
For your at-home lū‘au, we suggest creating your own paper lei, reminiscent of the fresh flower lei making activity favored among many of our guests.
SUPPLIES
Here is a list of supplies you will need to build your lei.
Paper or cardstock. Thicker cardstock is more durable.
Straws
Scissors
Single hole punch
String, twine, yarn or a shoelace
1. Print out the flower art provided on the last page of this PDF.
2. Cut the straws into 1inch sections.
INSTRUCTIONS CONTINUED
3. Cut out the flowers. Always make sure to be careful when using scissors and or other crafting tools.
4. Use the hole punch to add a hole to center of each flower. If you have a smaller hole punch gently fold the flower in half to reach the center.
5. Measure out and cut the string to your preferred length.
INSTRUCTIONS CONTINUED
6. Thread the string through the straw and the flowers. Go through the straw first and then add a flower. Repeat until the string is mostly full. Remember to leave some extra string for tieing.
7. Once all of the flowers have been threaded tie the string together.
Your lei is now ready for the Luau! Enjoy!
