Candles are often blessed at this time of year, as daylight hours grow longer, commemorating the coming of the Light of Christ in our lives. Discovery: Revelation—Prophecies That Provoke 10am, 74 Trinity Place, 2nd Floor, Parish Hall This series on “The Revelation to John” offers a deeper understanding of the lan- guage and imagery as well as the theological and historical milieu from which it emerged. Today, Trinity’s Rector, the Rev. Dr. James H. Cooper, discusses “The Battle of Good and Evil.” While much contemporary biblical criticism finds in Rev- elation a critique of the Roman Empire and the politics of domination, many faithful Christians read the book as a predication of end times or an allegory of the spiritual battle of good and evil. Both readings affirm God’s ultimate victory and the establish- ment of the New Jerusalem. This class will explore how such readings may support the spiritual life of a community, particularly in times of stress and change. Bulletin BoardClosing of the Churchyards and Trinity CemeteryAll day, February 4-5, 2014Each year, Trinity is required to close the Trinity Church and St. Paul’s Chapel churchyards along with the uptown cemetery grounds for a minimum of 48 hours in order to preserve the Parish’s private rights-of-thoroughfare in each of our church properties. During this period, no public traffic is permitted in the churchyards or cemetery. As with last year’s closings, the Brown Bag Ministry will serve lunches from the vestibule of Trinity Church.
