BlueWater Chamber Orchestra is Northeast Ohio’s premier ensemble dedicated to the performance of exciting and unusual repertoire for chamber orchestra. With its unpretentious approach to music making, BlueWater’s goal is to make audiences comfortable by breaking down the many barriers associated with classical music. In addition to its concert series, the orchestra performs in other settings such as churches, libraries, nursing homes, and even local bars! The orchestra is also in residence at Saint Ignatius High School, with a partnership that encompasses performance, education and outreach.

BlueWater opens its seventh season with soloist Peter Otto, First Associate Concertmaster of The Cleveland Orchestra. His inspired performance of Dvorak’s Violin Concerto is complemented by the brilliant Symphony in C, composed by 17-year-old George Bizet. A “Near West Neighborhood Series” concert at The Breen.

BlueWater’s fabulous string section performs seldom heard works by African-American composers George Walker and William Grant Still. Also on the program are classics by Mozart and Bartok. Enjoy Bartok’s dramatic Divertimento for Strings in the intimate setting at Plymouth Church!

Our third program of the season features a mix of large chamber works in their original instrumentation. Come experience Copland’s ensemble setting of his ballet Appalachian Spring, as well as a youthful composition by Britten and Wagner’s famous birthday present to his wife. Artwork related to the music will be displayed in the lobby of the beautiful Breen Center. A “Near West Neighborhood Series” concert.

BlueWater spreads its wings with music of Respighi (The Birds), Haydn (The Hen) and Mozart (The Clarinet). Amitai Vardi, BlueWater’s popular clarinetist, plays Mozart’s gift to the instrument. Don’t miss the color of Respighi, the humor of Haydn and the beauty of Mozart!
