THE SOLUTIONCryptotoccosis is an opportunistic and cosmopolitan disease caused by Cryptococcus neoformans. Infection occurs most often in childhood and by inhalation of spores. Cryptococcosis is the second leading cause of death in immunocompromised patients (HIV, transplants). The most common clinical expression of the disease is meningoencephalitis. There are approximately 1 million new cases each year worldwide including 625,000 deaths from cryptococcal meningitis (source: CDC). The vast majority of cases occur in Sub-Saharan Africa (> 70%), followed by Asia. BIOSYNEX® CryptoPS is a rapid immunochromatographic test for the semi-quantitative detection and titration of Cryptococcus sp. capsular antigens in serum, plasma, whole blood and CFS to guide the diagnosis of cryptococcal infections, especially in cases of meningitis.

• Automated reading of the results• Storage of the results• Printer, barcode reader and adhesive paper• LIS connectivity
