What to bring

Pocket money There are no extra expenses incurred

in the programme but there is a shop at each centre; we recommend each child

brings a minimum of £5 per week pocket money for purchasing drinks, sweets etc.

whilst on centre.

There will be opportunities for shopping on excursions if they are part of the

itinerary, therefore it’s suggested that guests may need more money for these.

Please ensure currency is in pounds sterling.

Bedding and towelsBedding will be provided for all overseas

guests. Guests will need to bring their own towels. We recommend one towel

for showering and another towel for wet/dirty activities.

Oncentre

Contacting children We have found that our guests settle in to their new environment better if they have minimal contact with their parents, so we

kindly ask that parents do not call their child unless in an emergency.

We ask children that should they need to contact their family, they talk to their PGL

Group Leader.

Wi-FiAs stated in our company policy, Wi-Fi is not available for use by children. If there

are accompanying adults, then there will be access to a computer with Internet for them

to use.

Breakfast includes a choice of traditional cooked breakfast, cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit and toast.

For lunch there is a hot option, a vegetarian option plus an unlimited salad bar and fresh fruit.

Code of conduct

Discipline and responsibility

Living alongside and mixing with other children is a valuable part of the holiday experience and we try to ensure that no

one feels left out.

Every child has an equal right to enjoy themselves and we keep a close check on

teasing, bullying or any other anti-social behaviour that may spoil the enjoyment of

our guests.

We encourage guests to inform their PGL Group Leader or another member of staff if

they are experiencing any issues.

Code of conductThe following centre rules exist to make sure that all guests have a safe and enjoyable holiday.

◾ Show consideration for the other guests, as well as PGL staff, coach drivers and neighbouring local residents.

◾ Show respect for property – coaches, centre and equipment. Costs for intentional damage will normally be passed on to the party responsible.

◾ Guests should be aware of the curfew on centre and restrict noise to a minimum during curfew hours.

◾ Guests must not enter other guests’ accommodation, or areas designated private or restricted.

◾ Smoking is not permitted in the public areas of PGL centres or on PGL coaches. It is strictly prohibited in all accommodation units, especially in tents. Smoking is only allowed in designated areas.

◾ The possession and consumption of any alcoholic drinks is not permitted on centre by guests under 18 years. Guests over 18 are only permitted with prior agreement of the Centre Manager and Agent.

◾ Party members must not behave in an anti-social fashion, e.g. use offensive or insulting language, threatening behaviour, bullying or displays of intimacy.

◾ Theft and other illegal activities will be reported to the police.

◾ Guests under 18 must not leave the centre unless accompanied by a supervising adult.

◾ PGL reserves the right to send any party member(s) home for illegal activities, consistent or gross misconduct. In such cases the cost will be totally borne by the Agent.

On-centre support

Bedtimes and night support Exact bedtimes may vary from centre to centre but are typically between 21.30

for 7–13’s and 22.30 for 13–17-year-olds. Each centre has night duty support and a member of staff can be contacted at any

time. Main doors are locked, although these can be opened from the inside in case of an

emergency.

Staff support

A PGL Group Leader will be allocated to guests and will show them around the

centre, take them to meals, make sure they know where to meet each day and generally

ensure that guests have a great time. We encourage all guests to communicate any questions or queries they may have with centre staff throughout their stay should

they need to.

Page 13: for international students · PGL Dalguise Dunkeld, Perthshire Scotland, PH8 0JX contactmychilddg@pgl.co.uk Dalguise Perthshire 5 ... Clothing for evening entertainment and excursions

Medical andhealth mattersAny medical, physical, cultural, dietary or behavioural needs which our centre staff need to be aware of should be detailed before departure.

It is essential that we know if any child suffers from any condition that needs special attention or which may prevent them from taking part in any activity. This will enable us to make any necessary alternative arrangements if possible.

Most guests are used to controlling their own condition, however if this is not the case then we need to be aware so we can make adequate provisions for the level of care required.

Children travelling to centre without a tour leader must complete a medical contact form prior to arrival: failure to do so may result in them not being able to participate in the programme.

First aid We have staff with first aid qualifications, suitable first aid equipment and facilities and have pre-established links with local doctors, dentists and hospitals in case of an emergency.
