Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann GmbH (HKM) in Duisburg, in which Salzgitter AG holds a 30 % stake, produces our tube starting material – the so-called tube-making rounds. Mannesmannröhren Werk GmbH in Zeithain processes these solid steel ingots into seamless hot-rolled tubes, the starting material for seamless precision steel tubes.

Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung GmbH, the central research company in the Salzgitter Group, provides wide-ranging support to the other Group companies in areas including materials technology, application processes, non-destructive testing, and shaping and surface technology.

HP-tubes is a collective term used for cylinder barrel tubes that have been internally machined to a defined ISO tolerance, mainly by skiving and roller burnishing, or by honing.

Their special features are:• top-quality micro-finished inside surface • low roughness values • high profile bearing ratio • favorable sliding properties

The following roughness values according to ISO 4287 and ISO 4288 are specified for the inside surface: Ra < 0,3 µm Rz < 2,0 µm
