    4. Foundation Design

    4.1 Imperative for raft foundation

    4.2 Load Calculation

    Foundation is that vital-most part of the structure htat supports the superstructures-that is what we delib

    well-functioning of the foundation can never be overlookeed.Since it always liesw buried.Civil engineer

    successful civil engineer is buried not after death but at the peak of his profession.

    The existing soil strata consists of sand underlain by silty clay.The "Bore -Hole-Log" as investigated bythicks below which lies the layer of silty clay.The Ground Water Table(GWT) lies at around 1.65m unde

    soil is 17kN/m2 and the angle of repose is 30 degree for sand and the cohesive strength of the clay is

    complex and the safe bearing capacity suggested is 70 kN/m2 and the soil is quite susceptible to settle

    necessary too.

    The loads from the column footings are calculated on the foundation floor.Then,as suggested by many

    assumed to be distributed uniformly by the salb to the foundation soil,or in another connotation,The fou
