DESCRIPTION

Money is dust when you can make a ball from rags tied together with string; when you can draw Adidas stripes on your feet to emulate your favourite footballer; when you can make goal posts from branches and when your football pitch is an open plain in Africa.

This book is the result of a 5-year-long day dream made possible by the following people

and entities: Matteo Bottanelli, contributing photographer and President of Muti Onlus, for

giving me the inspiration to make this project a charitable one, for covering my back on the

journey when I needed it most and for being a great friend. To Kabir Javier for contributing his

beautiful photographs. Cristina, Vivi & Leo Martinetti for their infinite love and dedication to

people other than themselves. The incredibly dynamic motorcycle company Ducati in Bologna

Italy, who were our technical sponsor and dream catcher – your steel horses carried us so

far and made every Italian in Africa proud. Thanks to Lucio Attina, Marco Rimondi & Patrizia

Cianetti from Ducati HQ. Then Ferrino, who protected us against wild animals and torrential

downpours with our tents and camping gear, Ies for their support and wonderful send off,

Cucine Cucine, Funaro & Co from New York – for trusting and supporting complete strangers.

Then Alessandro Scali from Kut comm for his patience and friendship. My mother Debbie

Griffith, my father Bob Goode and my sister Kate, for their love and worried text messages.

Last but not least I want to thank my beautiful wife, Anita Macchi, for letting me go so far away

for something I believed in. But especially, for letting me come back. Now that’s love.

Dedicated to my wife, Anita
