The Ramos Report

Tis the season for football! You have often heard sports commentators, when describing

a player’s lack of focus by saying, “He just didn’t have his head in the game,” or “they seemed to lose their concentration.” The underlying truth is that the mind/body connection is often at the root of a poor performance. The inability to transfer excellence in practice to excellence on

the playing field is often caused by negative thoughts. Hypnotherapy will help to identify and eliminate the obstacles that cause limitations so that an athlete can perform at their peak. When working with an athlete I like to develop a program that includes suggestions

catered to your individual needs. Our plan will help you to reprogram your mind, so that you can start to feel more comfortable and self-assured in all situations and aspects of your game. Hypnosis may do for the mind what physical activity does for the body of an athlete. The theory behind sports hypnosis is that relaxation is key to improved sporting performance. very year, millions of Americans rely upon opioids to manage their chronic pain.Pain can be unrelenting, overwhelming, and all-consuming. So why do so many of us try to manage pain only from the palm of our hand? Doctor-prescribed opioids are appropriate in some cases, but they just mask the pain—and reliance on opioids has led to the worst drug crisis in American history. That’s why the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends safer alternatives like physical therapy to manage pain. Physical therapists treat pain through movement, hands-on care, and patient education—no warning labels required. By increasing physical activity you can also reduce your risk of other chronic diseases.

mild® is a safe procedure that can help patients diagnosed with lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) stand longer and walk farther with less pain. It is a short, outpatient procedure, performed through a very small incision (about the size of a baby aspirin) that requires no general anesthesia, no implants, and no stitches.

After the mild® procedure, most patients are able to return home the same day and are generally able to resume light tasks and everyday activities within just a few days. Your doctor will provide complete instructions on what to do immediately following the procedure and schedule any necessary follow-up visits or suggested rehabilitation.

Your PainThe typical pain management team includes

medical doctors, nurses, psychologists or mental health specialists, physical therapists, medical assistants and hypnotherapists. From a mental health standpoint, the job is to promote changes in lifestyle and life perspective. We understand that this objective can be difficult to achieve. That is why we offer coaching and support while you work to release whatever is blocking your capacity to succeed. The main strategies are part of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), where patients are trained to understand the connection between pain and emotions. CBT brings about mindfulness and is a helpful psychological strategy of bringing one’s attention to experiences occurring in the present moment. You can also achieve mindfulness through the practice of relaxation and meditation. Developing self-awareness leads to what is described as higher levels of consciousness and helps to diminish suffering.

Change is about accepting and adapting to new situations. When experiencing chronic pain, it becomes necessary to find new ways to accomplish your daily tasks. Adapting to chronic pain may mean cooking in a seated position, walking slowly, bending carefully, standing infrequently, and using medical devices to maintain good posture. To mitigate chronic pain, gentle exercises such as yoga, hydro and physical therapies can produce endorphins which are natural pain killers.Achieving a peaceful state of mind can distract your focus from pain. Some examples include massage, aromatherapy, acupuncture, listening to relaxing music or walking on the beach.

Why Physical Therapy For Pain Management?

Now Offering

Physical Therapy VS. Prescription Opioids

PainandBalance.com •(941) 708-9555 Ext. 106

Opioids only mask the sensation of pain.Physical therapists treat pain through movement.

Physical therapy “side effects” include improved mobility, increased independence, decreased pain, and prevention of other health problems through movement and exercise.

Physical therapy is effective for numerous conditions, and the CDC cited “high quality evidence” supporting exercise as part of physical therapist treatment for familiar conditions like low back pain, hip and knee osteoarthritis, and fibromyalgia.

Opioid side effects include depression, overdose, addiction, and withdrawal symptoms.

Opioid effectiveness for long-term pain management is inconclusive in many cases.
