As a mum, I know that looking after a smallchild means there’s little opportunity for a rest,even if you’re in pain. Unfortunately, carrying

a small child can strain muscles and joints. At BACKat EASE we help a lot of patients with back-ache andneck pain, providing treatment and exercise advice tohelp relieve their pain and allow them to keep goingwith their daily life.

Top tips when looking after smallchildren to prevent pain.

• Don’t carry a child on the same hip constantly;get into a habit of alternating sides so you don’tcompress one side which can lead to low backpain, pelvic pain and muscular imbalances.

• Minimize lifting babies around in car seats. Theyare very difficult to lift or hold and the seat andbaby combined can weigh up to 2 stone.

• If you’re sitting holding a baby fora prolonged time, sit with goodposture, use a pillow for low backsupport, avoid crossing your legsand use pillows to support you.

• Take regular gentle exercise asweak muscles may exacerbatelow back pain.

• When standing for a long time trytucking your bottom under and gentlydrawing your tummy muscles in toreduce strain on your lower back.

there are sure to be plenty of twists and turns, much likeour local Silverstone circuit. Hosting race 9 and castingyour mind back to last year you’ll see that the titlewas all but decided by this point. MK based Red Bullhad Sebastian Vettel with all bases covered and wereflying. this year however things are a little different.

Having had a mixed results sheet,consistency is key, the 8 UKbased teams are showing theway forward in the pinnacle ofmotorsport with Brackley basedMercedes AMG Petronasand Sahara Force India sat onthe door at Silverstone. It wasrefreshing to see this being shownlast year with Paul di Resta walking

with David Coulthard from the factory to the circuit inhis overalls!

An exciting weekend of entertainment will ensue soenjoy the spectacle. The Ferrari fans are affectionatelycalled the Tifosi, can us locals consider ourselves theSilvosi? I’ll be tuning in to watch the great coverage,sitting in the garden to hear the cars pushing the limitsand the red arrows flying around overhead. The joysof being part of the Silvosi some might say.
