Sowing seeds indoors allows tender plants to be started off earlier in the season and when they have grown into young plants they can be planted outside in the garden.

You can grow loads of plants from seed, such as vegetables, bedding and other flowering annuals.

1. Fill a seed tray with seed sowing compost nearly to the top and flatten the surface.

2. Sprinkle smaller seeds over the top of the compost but lightly push larger seeds just below the surface.

3. Water lightly and cover with a lid or piece of glass.

4. Check the seeds regularly for germination and once they have started to grow take the lid off.

5. Once they are established enough prick out the seedlings and re-plant them in larger pots individually.

The seeds will continue to grow in the larger pots and by the spring will be ready to plant in your garden.

At Towcester Primary School we prideourselves on being an open and friendlycommunity and this was reflected whenthe Ofsted Inspectors noted that ‘Parents

Be Inspired!As a child, Anne was mad on horses. Her

favourite book was ‘Wish for a Pony’, astory about a girl who wins a pony in araffle. Anne always wished that it was her

as she longed to have riding lessons but her parentscouldn’t afford it.

However, in her early 60s she saw a Horse Ridingfor Beginners course advertised in the Adult Learningbrochure and wondered whether this might be herchance at last! She was a little concerned about herage (and the fact that she wasn’t as supple as sheused to be) but after speaking to the tutor, Anne wasthrilled to learn that the course was suitable for allages and abilities.

Anne thoroughly enjoyed the six week course andlearnt about the horse, the theory as well as the actualriding. She said ‘The tutors were friendly and alwaysencouraging; they pointed out the improvementsthat you were making which really boosted myconfidence’.

presented gifts of flowers, chocolate and cards. Whatbetter way to express this than with these delicious redvelvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.For the Cupcakes• Preheat oven to 165C degrees. Line a muffin pan with 12

paper cases.• Mix flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt in

medium bowl. Set aside• Beat butter and sugar in large bowl with electric mixer

on medium speed 5 minutes until light and fluffy.• Beat in eggs, one at a time. Mix in soured cream, milk,

food colouring and vanilla.• Gradually beat in flour mixture on low speed until

blended. Do not over beat.• Spoon batter into cases, filling each 2/3 full.• Bake 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted into cupcake

comes out clean. Cool in pans on wire rack 10 minutes.Remove from pans, cool completely.

So, do you move yourself or get in the professionals?Are you physically able to pack, load a van, driveto your new destination and unload? You will needboxes, tape, labels and friends to help at both ends.

If it’s a wet day, blankets /old sheets will be required tocover up belongings and carpets. This is certainly thecheaper option particularly if you don’t have a lot tomove or are going just around the corner.

Clearly, if you are moving further afield with yourhome office, piano, snooker table, ride on mower,four kids and walk in refrigerator, then you might needsome serious help!
