CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR COMMUNITY SPIRITED STUDENTS!!!! What great students we have a Brisbania! I’d like to share with you something very special that had happened in our community last week. On Saturday, a neighbours’s netball stand was stolen and found smashed to bits and dumped at the waterfront. On Monday night, the kids of the Wong ( Illawong Close) had POOLED their POCKET MONEY and handed Zara a new netball stand. What a great random act of kindness and community spirit. On Tuesday, STARFM was asking for callers to call in and tell them about someone who made them proud. You may heard the call on the radio? STARFM wanted to surprise the kids with a reward- bags of goodies and go cart experience worth almost $1000- on Wednesday. Our great kids are The Moultons, Eagles, Whittys, Smiths and Clarksons. We are proud of you! ENROL FOR KINDERGARTEN 2017!!! Brisbania Public School is now taking enrolments for Kindergarten students commencing school in 2017. If you have any neighbours or friends in area that are ready for school, please pass on this information. We have packages ready at the front office to collect between the hours of 9am and 2.45pm. If you can also please bring with you:-
child’s birth certificate or passport
current immunisation schedule
proof of your residence in our areas of Saratoga, Yattalunga and Davistown (electricity, telephone bill, rates notice or copy of rental agreement)
CHANGE OF CONTACT DETAILS
Please advise the office immediately if your address, home phone number, mobile or emergency contacts change so that our records are accurate. VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS It would be appreciated if voluntary contributions could be paid for ASAP. The amount has been the same for the past two years. One child $40, two children $60 and three or more children $70. If you have one child, that equates to a fee of $1 a week. Thank you to parents who have already paid their fees. Fees go towards paper and ink and toner for copying as well as items for classrooms such as books. DIDGERIDOO DONATION During Reconciliation Week, it was wonderful to receive a new, beautifully painted didgeridoo. Thank you to a former teacher of Brisbania, who wishes to remain anonymous, for the donation. It is very much appreciated.

RUGBY LEAGUE Well done to our team on their sportsmanship last Tuesday. Thanks to Miss Iles and parents for supporting the boys. The boys played amazingly. Lots of Brissie determination and guts. Sadly we lost 16-12. The boys can hold their heads high. Special thanks to all the parents for transporting the boys and HUGE thank you to Richard who never fails to impress as water boy!!! Miss Iles SKATEBOARDERS/ INTRUDERS Thank you to parents who looked out for us last week and called security when youths were on the premises. We have also involved the Brisbane Water police with students who trespass on school grounds and jeopardise their safety in addition to damaging school property and buildings. We have had phone calls from the Saratoga shops asking for a reminder in the newsletter about skateboarders around the shops and in the car park at the shops. Please consider the public and their safety and skate away from the car park and shops. SECURITY Our school security hotline is 1300 880 021. Please call the hotline if you see or hear anyone on the premises out of hours. SAFETY FOR STUDENTS Please be aware that the car park is for staff and emergency vehicle use only. We appreciate your cooperation to keep our students safe. Have a fabulous week. Annette Parrey

FUN NIGHT OUT! BINGO RIO! Don't forget to purchase your tickets for our Bingo Night - Bingo Rio! It is at 7pm on 17th June in the Davistown RSL Auditorium and it promises to be a great night. Tell your friends, family, and neighbours and organise a table for a fun night out. The theme is RIO but dress up is optional, although there will be a prize for best dressed! Tickets are only $10 and all money raised goes towards buying resources for the school. Don't worry if you don't have a whole table of 10 - tickets are to be purchased individually and we'll organise smaller groups and individuals together on tables so you can meet some new people too! The process for payment this year is to send in the tear off slip at the bottom of the note along with your money in an envelope into class (as you do for all school payments). Please indicate your table / group name if you have one. You will be sent a ticket within a few days. We will be playing some fun games in between bingo rounds so start saving up your gold coins for entry into these games!
We have some great prizes for the night including a one month membership for Kincumber Gym, a one month membership for Curves Erina, a $100 Bunnings voucher, a $100 voucher for Beauty Down Under Terrigal, a family pass for the Australia Walkabout Park, a $60 private reformer pilates voucher from Progressive Pilates Kincumber, a $50 Treads Tyrepower Kincumber voucher, a $50 Coles voucher from Yoga by CJ at Avoca, a toy pack from Casey's Toys, a VIP pass for Clip 'n Climb, a fruit and vegetable basket from Saratoga Fruit and Veg, a $25 voucher for Avoca Beach Resort, a Wash and Blow Wave from Bows, a $20 voucher for Shelley's Cafe, a hamper from Blooms Chemist, as well as a number of smaller prizes. If you are able to donate a prize for Bingo Rio or our Fathers day raffle in September please contact either myself (0423036697) or Kate Farr (0404649888). In return for prizes we are able to advertise your business in the Monday note for 4 weeks.
DISCO
The disco for this term will be on Tuesday 21st June. If you are able to help with preparing the food (cutting rolls, wrapping donuts with baking paper, pouring drinks etc) from 3-4.30 please contact either Belinda (0404924896) or myself (0423036697). We are also looking for volunteers to help serve in the canteen during the 2 discos. We would really appreciate any help!

CHESS!!
Learn how to be a chess champion! Coaching for students at Brisbania Public School is held on Tuesdays from
12:45pm – 1:40pm during the term. Term 2 lessons have already started and it’s not too late to enrol.
To enrol go to sydneyacademyofchess.com.au/payment to enrol and use this code Q957VC76GM
Chess is the world’s most loved board game. Learning and playing chess helps children develop their logical think-
ing and problem solving skills, improves their concentration and focus, while also being a great source of enjoy-
ment! Activities include group lessons on a demonstration chess board or interactive whiteboard, puzzle solving
and fun practice games, with personal feedback from the coach.
Students earn merit awards by making checkmates, solving puzzles, or by displaying skills and positive qualities,
which all good chess players strive to develop.
For all enquiries, please contact Sydney Academy of Chess on (02) 9745 1170.
