Holly Walker Focus Group Analysis I have put the first draft edit on a closed Facebook group via a link to my YouTube channel. As well as this I have also included a link to my survey, which I asked everyone to answer. I am going to analyse these results and see if there are any trends, what my target audience is and if there are any improvements that can be made. Question One: Question Two: Question Three: Our first question had mixed answers with 3 people answering women and 5 people answering both. This may be due to the feminine features in the video which therefore makes it more relatable to women. With the only character in the video being a women it makes an instant connection with the female audience. Overall I do think the song can be related to both as there I think that our video is suited to a younger audience, this could be due to the conventions of R’N’B music video we have followed to, although by adding our own twist. We have now established our target audience. Through our questionnaire we have had 100% positive feedback that our black and white scheme is effective. Focus Group Analysis

I have put the first draft edit on a closed Facebook group via a link to my YouTube channel. As well as this I have also included a link to my survey, which I asked everyone to answer. I am going to analyse these results and see if there are any trends, what my target audience is and if there are any improvements that can be made.

Question Four:

Our first question had mixed answers with 3 people answering women and 5 people answering both. This may be due to the feminine features in the video which therefore makes it more relatable to women. With the only character in the video being a women it makes an instant connection with the female audience. Overall I do think the song can be related to both as there are no clear cut indications that it is more aimed at just one gender.

I think that our video is suited to a younger audience, this could be due to the conventions of R’N’B music video we have followed to, although by adding our own twist. We have now established our target audience.

Through our questionnaire we have had 100% positive feedback that our black and white scheme is effective. I feel that we have achieved and challenged the conventional R’N’B music video by making it more classic rather than over sexualised. The black and white theme also suits the name of the track haunted.

Having received 100% positive feedback I feel that we have succeeded in making sure our images are appropriate for our video. Throughout the song there were faster and slow parts where we had to get the images correct with the beat. Additionally using the editing tool to slow and speed up the footage. “The movements are slow which fits in with the slow pace of the song” This supports that are video is edited successfully and effectively.

Question Seven:

When planning we wanted to challenge the conventions of R’N’B music videos and having abstract mysterious imagery. By having 100% positive feedback makes our planning effective. “It makes it more interesting to watch.” This concreates our proposal of making it remember able for our target audience.

“It helps the audience to become engaged with the video and suits the song”. Although there wasn’t a clear narrative, with images it supported the lyrics and beat to match perfectly and create something appropriate for the artist used.

Originally with Beyonce being a Pop/R’N’B artist we chose our genre to be slow R’N’B, two voted for the same answer “Slow Pop”. This still suits our video and is positive feedback. We have had been given feedback of “Gothic” genre which linked in with the dark black and white mysterious imagery.

Question Ten:

Having asked can the audience relate to our video in any way, a response was “yes, as the main character is a girl.” This supports our original plan what females would relate to the felinity also the abstract imagery. Others have said “no but loved it” which shows its versatility.

Having asked the question would you recommend our music video to a friend, we received 100% positive feedback. This indicates that we have achieved a professional successful music video. If I was to create one again I would take into consideration the skilful editing techniques we used with the appropriate imagery to link with the song.

knew that the abstract imagery and shots with not revealing the characters full identity would set confusion for some of our audience.
