FNs unique transatlantic relationship begins in 1897 through its long-standing partnership with John M. Browning, who made 121 trips (61 round-trips) between the U.S. and Europe (Herstal) prior to his death in Belgium in 1926. Through Brownings collaboration with FN the company produces legendary products such as the 7.65 Auto Pistol (1897), the Auto-5 Autoloading Shotgun (1902), the .30-caliber machine gun (1919), the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR, 1921) and the Hi Power (1923) auto pistol.

    POST WORLD WAR II

Once Belgium is liberated from German occupation, FN repairs more than two million U.S. small arms from the European Theater of Operation and resumes manufacturing.

    1953-1976

FN produces the GP 35, (an updated edition of the Browning Hi Power), FNC and M2HB-QCB. At the same time the FN FAL is developed for the Western world and soon earns the reputation as the "right arm of the Free World." The GP 35 remains the benchmark against which all other 9 mm autoloading service pistols are measured. Through this same period, FN also develops the 7.62x51 mm cartridge that was approved by NATO in 1957.

    1990

FN's 5.7x28 mm caliber P90 submachine gun is introduced to the military, elite law enforcement and security forces around the globe.

    1998

The Herstal Group establishes FNH USA, LLC to manage U.S. government relations as well as military new business development, marketing, sales and service for law enforcement and commercial markets of FN firearms in the U.S.

    1977

    FN acquires Browning Arms.

    1977-1982

The U.S. military adopts both the FN MINIMI Squad Automatic Weapon (M249 SAW) and the FN MAG 58 General Purpose Machine Gun (M240). FN opens FN Manufacturing, LLC (FNM), in Columbia, South Carolina to build small arms for the U.S. military.

    1982

FNs SS109, 5.56x45 mm caliber cartridge becomes the NATO standard.

    1989

    FN becomes The Herstal Group.

    2008-20102008-2010

FN develops a family of remotely operated weapon stations capable of providing protective fire when mounted on tactical vehicles and deployed on stationary positions. The deFNder Light is developed in 2008 and is optimized to handle 7.62x51 mm and 5.56x45 mm belt-fed machine guns. The deFNder Medium is developed in 2010 and is designed to mount .50-caliber machine guns and 40 mm grenade launchers for deployment on tactical vehicles.

    2010

The FN SCARdesignated as the MK 16 and MK 17 is operationally deployed around the globe to U.S. special operators and other agencies, along with the FN MK 13 Enhanced Grenade Launcher Module.

    2001

The FN 303 less lethal launcher is introduced as the premier less lethal system for law enforcement and is adopted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (2008). In addition, the FN 303 is put into use by the U.S. Army in multiple units through the fielding of the Rapid Equipping Force (REF).

    2003

  • COMMITMENT TO QUALITY

From its beginning, FN has been at the forefront of every aspect of modern firearms innovation.

From the legendary and standard-setting Hi Power, designed by John M. Browning and perfected by

Dieudonne Saive, and the FAL, commonly referred to as the right arm of the Free World, to todays

paradigm-breaking FN Five-seveN and FN SCAR, the future of firearms technology carries the name FN.

Today, FN firearms represent the continuing evolution of a

design process that uses some of the most sophisticated

technology available anywhere in the world. Every stage

of productionfrom the initial conceptual design through

engineering, manufacturing, final assembly and testing

all benefit from our unparalleled investment in advanced

    computer guided machinery.

At FN we start with a mission-centered approach,

focused on a detailed analysis of the needs of the end

user. These mission critical objectives drive every aspect

of the design process. It is not simply enough for FN

firearms to accomplish the job, they must do so in the best

possible manner. Our goal is to exceed individual operator

expectations with outstanding reliability and accuracy as

well as enhanced ergonomics and ease of use even in the

    harshest field conditions.

User-defined criteria are applied starting with the basic

conceptualization and initial design to include the

selection of materials. Each part and component of the new

firearm is evaluated for final construction to determine

the optimal use of forged steel, aircraft-grade aluminum

alloy or high-performance polymers. A selection of high

quality interior and exterior finishes designed to improve the

durability and reliability of the firearm under all conditions

are also tested and considered before final selection.

The latest state-of-the-art Computer-Aided Design and

Manufacturing systems (CAD/CAM) allow highly skilled

FN engineers to study the interactions between each

part and component. Every aspect of the firearm design

is meticulously refined, computer-modeled and tested.

Functional prototypes are developed and rigorously tested

through hundreds of thousands of rounds, subject to

    4

  • temperature and environmental extremes and subjected to

repeated shock and drop testsall to further improve the

    final product.

As production moves into the manufacturing phase, these

computer-designed components are fabricated on the most

advanced machinery in the industrycapable of holding

tolerances to mere microns. FN rifle and pistol barrels are

cold hammer-forged from ordnance-grade steel on the

same production lines used to build the machine guns that

protect Americas warriors. Barrel interiors are polished

to a mirror finish, and are often chrome-lined for longer

life. Internal parts are fashioned with precision surfaces to

ensure smooth function and flawless reliability for tens of

thousands of rounds. Internal and external surfaces receive

highly advanced protective coatings able to withstand the

    most adverse environmental conditions.

The true heart of FN quality and reliability lies not in our

advanced equipment but in our gifted and committed

engineers and highly skilled craftsmen who meticulously

guide each design and individual firearm through final

    production. Like their world-renowned predecessors,

todays FN craftsmen complete final assembly, test and

re-test every mechanical function and operating control.

Nothing is left to chance. When an FN firearm is placed in

its box or case it is ready to provide optimal performance.

At each and every step of production, a dedicated and

detail focused group of FN quality control engineers

monitors the manufacturing process to create a product

that is as flawless as possible. Our investment in advanced

technology, in systems like our multi-point, laser-guided

quality control instrumentation, helps ensure this level of

perfection in our products. Thats why most FN firearms

    proudly display the AS9100C/EN 9100 and/or ISO 9001

Quality sealthe highest international standard for

    manufacturing quality.

FN products have been the firearm of choice for the

militaries of more than 100 nations spanning the globe

and have served reliably under the toughest conditions.

When you choose an FN firearm, you can be confident that it

has been designed and built honoring that same tradition

and with the same care. This level of qualitythat you can

depend on, day in and day out, year after yearbears only

    one name, FN.

  • RELIABLE, ANYTIME AND

    ANYWHERE

    HANDGUNS

In the history of firearms design, John M. Browning stands apart without equal.

For nearly three decades until his death literally at the drawing board, Browning

collaborated with FN on some of his most well-known designs. Among these

are many of the most famous handguns in the world, including the Browning

Hi Power and several striker-fired pistols.

Indeed, the FNS striker-fired polymer pistol is the latest extension of a tradition

that began over a century ago with the striker-fired Browning Model 1898/1900

pistol. Other striker-fired designs soon followed, including the M1910, the M1922,

the M1955, and the M1971. Each of these pistols witnessed great demand and

proved themselves reliable and effective in the role of personal defense.

This culture of innovation and excellence in design and manufacturing is

also evident in FNs other handgun models including the unique FN Five-

seveN, which delivers low recoil and an incredibly versatile cartridge, to the

FNX-9 and FNX-40 with their many ambidextrous features. No pistol line is

complete without the venerable .45 ACP that can be found in the FNX-45 and

optic-ready FNX-45 Tactical. When it comes to semi-automatic pistols there is no

other manufacturer in existence today that can match FNs heritage, knowledge

    and experience.

Lightweight, Modular, Adaptable and AccurateThe FN SCAR system is a highly ergonomic design drawing

on well-established operating principles that have been used in

military firearms for many decades. The short-stroke gas piston

system used in the FN SCAR has been proven in platforms

like the U.S. M1 Carbine and the Soviet AK47. The reciprocating

charging handle is the predominant system used in most military

small arms of the 20th century and is being carried into the

21st century, allowing the operator to see the firearm charging

status at a glance. A non-reciprocating charging handle option

is now available to better meet the needs of both the operator

and mission. The FN SCAR is highly modular and readily

adaptable at the operator level to a multitude of missions.

  • FN MK 20 SSR

Secure Long-Range Precision and Close-In ProtectionThe FN MK 20 Sniper Support Rifle (SSR) is based on the combat proven

FN SCAR system architecture modified to optimize the rifle's long-range

precision fire out to 1,000 meters. The FN MK 20 SSR further advances the

long-range capability of the FN MK 17 carbines platform by incorporating

features seldom found in semi-auto sniper rifles. This rifle features a

modern trigger that can be configured for single or two-stage operation with

no adjustment screws. The durable precision stock can be adjusted to the

shooters preference without tools and has an elastomer covered, sloped

cheekpiece for improved ergonomics. More than just high strength aluminum

alloy, the unique extended receiver is designed for rigidity and features

openings for manipulation of the gas regulator when used with a sound

suppressor. The extra length accommodates currently-fielded night vision

or thermal target augmentation devices layered with high performance day

optics. The cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined barrel is mated to the receiver

by a specially designed barrel extension which, along with a robust recoil

lug, provides consistent shot-to-shot performance. And, like its FN MK 17

counterparts, the FN MK 20 SSR's barrel can be removed by the operator

    for cleaning or maintenance.

    REAR-FACING DISPLAY SCREEN

First Round Hits: On TargetEvery Time

Designed to further enhance the FN MK 13 EGLM system, the FN Fire Control

Unit (FCU) uses advanced electronics to simplify range finding and elevation

corrections for the operator under the most severe combat conditions.

The unit is an advanced sight design for use with any 40 mm grenade launcher

(stand alone and under barrel). It is equipped with a Moving Red Aiming Sight

(MRAS), a Laser Range Finder (LRF), Infrared (IR) Laser Pointer, and Visible Laser

Pointer (co-witnessed with the LRF and IR Pointer) and contains an onboard

Ballistic Computer (BC) for up to 50 different types of 40 mm grenades.

The FN FCU is compatible with NSN scopes and iron sights like those on the

MK 16 MOD O/MK 17 MOD O, and is capable of ranging targets from 40 to 900

meters day and night. As the target is ranged, the aiming reference reticle moves

to indicate the correct firing solution providing an increased first-round hit

probability with both low and medium velocity 40 mm grenades.

The FN FCU is operable by an external trigger or by a remote trigger and

is adaptable to any rifle, carbine or grenade launcher with a top-mounted
