Hypothesis

As the recession lingers, fashion houses have back seated their exquisite and showy Haute Couture collections in favour of

ready-to-wear.

Is this marking the diminish of the culture of Couture and losing all its sense of identity?

Or is this shift a strategic way of exploiting the branding of a company to generate enough support and exposure to keep

couture alive?

With failures and bankruptcies of several couture businesses, it would seem that on the surface couture is on a downward

spiral. However, is it simply the matter of a waiting game before the profits of this underlying plan restore Couture to its former

glory?
