KARP MOVES TO WEEKEND » Junior pitcher Andrew Karp leads the ACC with 7

wins, including two in one week against Stetson (4/17) and Boston College (4/22).

» On a pitch count against the Hatters, Karp allowed just one hit in five innings of FSU’s 4-0 win. It was his third game this season, and sixth of his career, with at least eight strikeouts

without allowing a walk. » Karp made his first weekend start of the season

against the Eagles, allowing just one run in six innings and notching seven more strikeouts.

» Karp has two of FSU’s double-digit strikeout games this season and the Noles lone complete game (vs. Florida, 3/27).

» Karp and Jonah Scolaro combined for 16 strike-outs without a walk at JU (2/27), a feat FSU has accomplished just five times in school history.

» Parrish was one of four nominees for the Golden Spikes Award Performance of the Week for his game against Miami.

» The win was Parrish’s first since March 17 against Notre Dame. Parrish leads FSU with 2.63 ERA and 78 strikeouts. Opponents are hitting just .202 against the lefthander.

» Parrish is the only Seminole to make a weekend start in all 11 series.

FSU vs. STETSON NOTES » FSU’s 4-0 win vs. Stetson (4/17) was the Noles

WELLS EARNS PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS » Right fielder Steven Wells had a week for the

ages, hitting 14-for-17 (.824) with two home runs, two doubles, six walks, seven RBI, 11 runs scored and a 1.294 slugging percentage in FSU’s five wins against Stetson (4/17-18) and Boston College (4/20-22).

» Wells opened the week reaching base via hit, walk or error on his first 20 plate appearances.

» Wells reached base safely (not via error) on 13 consecutive plate appearances, one shy of Taylor Walls’ school record.

» Wells was 12-for-12 before reaching on an error at Fenway Park, breaking Brian Cox’s 10-for-10 run in the 1998 Regionals for most hits in consecutive at-bats in FSU history.

» Wells set a career high with four hits against Stetson (4/18) and tied that against Boston College at Fenway Park (4/21). Wells scored four runs, also a career high, against the Eagles.

» In addition to All-ACC honors, Wells was also a player of the week by Collegiate Baseball and the National Hitter of the Week by the NCBWA.

18.1 innings pitched this season, had one career at-bat before April 18.

» Since then, Johnson has a three-run home run against Stetson and a three-RBI game at Fen-way Park as the starting designated hitter.

» Johnson is 3-for-10 with a single, triple, and home run. He has seven RBI.

» Against Boston College at Fenway Park (4/21), Johnson hit a two-run triple to right field and pitched the final three innings for his first career save.

» Last season, FSU did not have a four-home run game until the Super Regional final against Sam Houston State.

and third of his career (4/8). » Cooper Swanson made his first career start in

» Rhett Aplin and Steven Wells tripled Saturday (4/7), the first time since May 21, 2016, that FSU had two triples in one game. Entering the game, FSU had two triples on the season.

SANDS HEATING UP » Junior Cole Sands is 6-2 on the season. He has

thrown a career-high 7.0 innings in two of his last three appearances.

» Against Ga. Tech (4/6), Sands allowed a run in the first and eighth innings with nothing in between, leading FSU to a 10-2 victory.

FOSTER WALK-OFF LEADS FSU TO SERIES WIN » Junior catcher Jonathan Foster hit a two-run,

pinch-hit walk-off home run to beat No. 18 Louisville, 8-7 (3/30).

» Foster’s home run was FSU’s first walk-off HR when LOSING a game since Mike McGee’s two-run HR gave FSU a 7-6 win over Miami in 2010 (have had five walk-off home runs in tie games in that span).

» Both of Foster’s home runs this season have come as a pinch hitter - his first was in his first career AB as a Seminole, a three-run HR against Troy (2/23).

FSU WINS SERIES AT NORTH CAROLINA » Florida State allowed a pair of big innings in the

opener at North Carolina (3/23), giving up five runs in the first inning and seven in the seventh inning.

» The Tar Heels combined to score just seven runs in the final two games of the series. FSU beat UNC 6-3 in 10 innings in the second game, the Noles first extra-innings game this year.

» FSU beat North Carolina 9-4 to win the series (3/25). Cal Raleigh, Nick Derr and Jackson Lueck combined for 8 RBI on three HR, including Derr’s grand slam, the first of the year for FSU.

» Freshman CJ Van Eyk pitched 4.2 innings and allowed just two hits and no runs for his first collegiate win.

» The Tar Heels have lost just two ACC series over the past two seasons and have risen to as high as No. 4 in the national polls this week.

VAN EYK COMING ON STRONG » Freshman pitcher CJ Van Eyk allowed just one

run in a career-high 7.1 innings against Miami (4/28), striking out a career-high 10 hitters. He earned his second career win in FSU’s 10-1 win.

» Van Eyk held the Canes scoreless through seven innings.

» Prior to the Miami game, Van Eyk threw a ca-reer-high innings in consecutive appearances - 4.1 at North Carolina (3/25) and 6.0 vs. Louisville (3/31).

» Van Eyk allowed just two hits in each of those games. He was the winning pitcher against UNC, holding the Tar Heels scoreless while striking out 5 in FSU’s 9-4 win.

» He allowed a run against UofL in his first inning but retired 11 straight between the fourth and eighth innings.

» Van Eyk made his second career start at Fenway Park against Boston College (4/21).

SALVATORE RISING FAST » Shortstop Mike Salvatore hit 7-for-13 in three

games at Georgia Tech. » He tied a career high with three hits in each of

the final two games against the Yellow Jackets. » Salvatore is the 27th toughest player to strike-

eight jersey tops and five pairs of pants.

The most famous of these uniforms, the Sun-day Golds, are worn during home games played on Sundays. Over the past 10 seasons, since 2009, FSU is 74-11 in the uniforms, including perfect records in 2010 (10-0) and 2012 (11-0).
