To get to the other slide. Dear People of God, Today we celebrate the wonderful feast of the Epiphany of the Lord. Epiphanymeans manifestation. The Epiphany of the Lordis Jesusmanifestation not only to these three Magi from the East, but its also a symbolic but real manifestation of the Christ to the whole world. These Magi, traveling from a foreign and non-Jewish nation, reveal that Jesus came for all people and all are called to adore Him. The Magi (Wise Men), understood the stars and when they saw this new and unique star they realized that something special was happening. Be aware that God will and does use things familiar to us to call us closer to Him. Look for the starthat God is using to call you. Its closer than you may think. The Magi fell prostrate before the Christ Child. They laid down their lives before Him in complete surrender and adoration. They set a perfect example for each of us. We also are called to adore Him with a complete surrender of our life. Lastly the Magi bring gold, frankincense, and myrrh. These three gifts, presented to our Lord, show that they acknowledged this Child as the Divine King who would die to save us from our sin. Gold is for a King, frankincense is a burnt offering to God, and myrrh is used for one would die. Lets reflect today, upon these magi and see them as symbols of what we are all called to do. Prayer: Lord, I love You and adore You. I lay my life before You and surrender all. You are my Divine King and Savior. My life is Yours.Jesus, I Trust in You. Heartfelt thanks to so many of you who were so kind, gracious and generous over this Christmas Season and for making Christmas a bit brighter for so many families in need. May God bless you all abundantly and always! Prayers and blessings for Bridget Costello who will be leaving Mary Help of Christians to begin a new phase of service to others. A new chapter in her book of life calls for her to share her gifts and talents with the poor families in Haiti and also in Texas. While we will miss her ebullient spirit, I know that we will do our best to support her with our prayers and best wishes. Our loss is the Churchs gain. Our Home Visitation Project will begin this week. Please be open to accepting an invitation to join one of our Host Fam- ilies for one evening. . . . and maybe even becoming a Host Family yourself! Pray that these visits will prove to be moments of grace for all involved. BLESSED & JOY-FILLED NEW YEAR TO EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU! As usual please remember to pray for all of the Salesians in our presence here at MHC . . . especially those at St. Philip Residence. Be assured we will be doing the same for you. Mission Statement

Our Parish here in Tampa, FL, a Catholic Church dedicated to the Mother of God under her title as Help of Christians, is a place of joy,

worship, welcome, evangelization and reconciliation. As a Salesian Parish in the Diocese of St. Petersburg we commit ourselves to having

a deep-seated preference for the young, especially those who are poor, while striving to minister to the corporal and spiritual needs of all

our members and visitors as well. We pray and work for peace, love, truth, and social justice through active stewardship and service -

notably with the assistance of our advocate Mary Help of Christians, and her great devotee St. John Bosco. We hope to provide an oppor-

tunity for everyone who worships with us to be transformed into people courageously living the Gospel.
