12-in-12 spiritual discipline book now has its
own website.
The 2010 12-in12 book introduced young people
and families to spiritual disciplines as a means of
developing a closer relationship with God. Read-
ers were challenged to try 12 different spiritual dis-
ciplines in 12 months. The book was very popular,
and the 4000 copies have been exhausted.
The YM Department has taken the contents, ideas
and activates and added new challenges and put
them into the new website.
www.12-in-12.com
The new website allows you to monitor your pro-
gress, record your areas of growth and share com-
ments and ideas. The website can also send you
alerts and reminders so that you do not forget to
complete your challenges.
The web was built by Brandon Hurst, former UF stu-
dent and Adventist Campus Ministry volunteer.
Later versions will include:
the ability to share your accomplishments
through social media.
You’ll also be able to complete challenges as a
group.
You’ll be able to modify challenges to meet
your individual/group needs.
You’ll be able to set yourself up as a group ad-
ministrator and monitor your group’s progress
with shared challenges.
We are very excited about this new website and
the difference that it can make in the lives of
young people. We encourage you to register on
the site, and incorporate it in to your spiritual
growth plans.
Please send us your feedback.
The Florida Conference of Seventh-day Adventist – Sports Council has been coordinating a basketball league for the past three years for the youth of the church which also incorporated the youth of the various communities sur-rounding the churches that have participated. Our mission is to provide a Christian environment that promotes physi-cal and spiritual growth for the youth. This past 2015-16 season, the league had approximately 34 churches, and we are always seeking for others to join. It also promotes and provides leadership, communications, team building, community outreach, professionalism and Christian fellowship, which afforded us the ability to reach out to non-Adventist youth and their families that led to baptism. The regular season began on Oct 3. 2016 and ended March
19, 2016. The north/central area first round playoffs began on April 19th and the second round area championship games were on April 24th. The south playoff games were on April 16-17th and the south area championship games were on April 23rd. North/Central Area Champs Youth/ Patmos Chapel (Orlando) Varsity/ Mt. Community Outreach
April 23, 2016 was Community Outreach Day. The Florida Con-ference Youth Dept., Sports Ministry, and Patmos Chapel, came together to sponsor the community outreach in the Orlando ar-ea. Teams were split up and went to different locations. Lake
Eola, the Go Project: Winter Park Community, Orange County Clean Up, Lake Eola
Our ultimate goal was to touch someone, to let them know if no one else cares God does. We soon real-ized how receptive people were to love. To show this we handed out unlimited amounts of free hugs,
prayers and asked questions like “If you had one question for God what would it be?” On one occasion we meet a man who told us that in the
same week he lost his sister and his car was broken into. He ex-pressed how much he need our prayers. Over-
all it was a successful event. We gave out countless hugs, prayed
with at least 7 people and handed out prayer cards. Sometimes we have to realize that success isn’t always meas-ured by the amount of people we preach to, sometimes show-ing unconditional love; come as
you are type of love. By: Yazmin Rivera Patmos Chapel The GO Project

United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) “On Sabbath April 23rd we conducted community outreach at the United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Central Florida which was fulfilling, as we (Patmos Chapel SDA basketball team, church members, and Florida Sports Ministry Council) worked together to enhance the playground, the aesthetic of both internally and externally of the organization, while also learning about the operations and goal of UCP (helping disabled children). Ms. Sherilyn Jordan (Campus Business Manager) was so thankful that we could come and assist their organization which is limited with resources, and
has invited us to return. By: Solinka McIntosh (Florida Sports) I had the privilege of partnering with Solinka McIntosh as
“Love does not come to those who see it, But to those who give it. It is a binding force between souls who have nothing to give bit themselves to one anoth-er.” (Harold Clemp)
The Go Project is an outreach team that connects people in the community with different services, ministries, and events. For example, free tutoring for kids, food bank at local church, prayer meetings, bible studies etc. On Community Connect day we promoted an event called "Encounter" that functions every Wednesday (6pm) at Pat-mos Chapel of SDA. Through door to door we knocked on 200 doors and connected with 23 families that are now in our follow up data base. We currently have 106 families in our data base. Our goal with the 23 families is to see them at "Encounter" and help them through our Christian family grow a strong-er and deeper relationship with God. By; Erytc Heredia

we went to the United Cerebral Palsy Of Central Florida facility. It is amazing how little things like sharing your time in volunteering can bring so much joy and happiness to those who you minister to. The staff there was so appreciative and the young people that accompanied us for the most part were very happy to participate. It is our hope that is we proceed with the Sports Ministry that we
will be able to do similar and much larger things the show God’s love through Athletics and being a productive part of our communities wherever the churches and teams are locat-ed showing God’s love through service to our fellow. By Rene Emil Brown (Florida Sports)

“FIFTEEN PASSENGER VANS ARE PROHIBITED from being used, borrowed, owned, or leased for any reason. Con-ference administration has taken an action that any location using or owning a 15 passenger van is cause for dismissal of the employee renting or authorizing the use of it.” Florida Conference Working Policy [emphasis in the original] “NO, NONE, NADA 15 passenger vans from Florida clubs are to be found at the October Pathfinder Camporee on pain of highly probable termination of any employee, including the pastor from whose church the club came.” Duane Rollins, Florida Conference Treasurer Removing three seats from a 15 seater van does not make it safe and it is still classed as a 15 seater. For further clarification please contact Rhonda Harper (407) 644-5000 [email protected]
“Manufacturers of the 15-passenger van say the safety problems of the vehicle have been addressed in the latest model. They are typically less expensive than buying a bus. Why shouldn’t we use them?”
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) identifies the 15-passenger van as a particularly dangerous vehi-cle. Multiple deaths within our church organizations occurred due to the use of 15-passenger vans. The NHTSA reports that 653 occupants of 15-passenger vans were killed during 2004-2013 alone. Van manufacturers claim improvements in the safety rating of the latest version of these vehicles. These claims must be verified by a qualified third-party, standard-setting organization, such as the NHTSA. The NHSTA released a statementon 15-passenger vans that cautions readers to check tires regularly due to the danger-ous nature of these vehicles. There was no mention, however, of an improved safety rating. Therefore, the improvements do not qualify as verified. Adventist Risk Management (ARM) and the North American Divi-sion (NAD) do not support the use of 15-passenger vans. Begin-ning in 2008 NAD, along with ARM, recommended the removal of these vans from ownership or use by all church organizations. All church organizations are encouraged to use other vehicles that are safe and verified. "All church organizations are encouraged to use other vehicles that are safe and verified." In addition to the NAD policy discouraging the use 15-passenger vans, the Division has included specific guidelines if the vans are used. Your local conference or church organization may also have fur-ther specific guidelines for the use or may even prohibit the use
of 15-passenger vans. Always check to see if your church organi-zation has such guidelines before using these vehicles. If your church organization is still in the process of selling any 15-passenger vans, it is strongly encouraged that these vehicles are disposed of immediately. If your local church board still chooses to use these dangerous vehicles, these NHTSA guidelines should be followed to provide as much safety as possible. Never overload the vehicle. The NHTSA recently
said: “Recognizing that 15-passenger vans are particularly sensitive to loading, the agency warns users never to overload these vehicles under any circumstances. NHTSA research shows overloading 15-passenger vans both increases rollover risk and makes the vehicle more unstable in any handling maneuvers.”
If you are a passenger, make sure you buckle up for every trip.
If you are an owner, make sure the vehicle is regularly main-tained.
Owners should have suspension and steering components in-
spected according to the manufacturer's recommended schedule and replace or repair these parts as necessary.
Owners should ensure that vehicles are equipped with properly sized and load-rated tires.
Owners should also make sure drivers are properly licensed and experienced in operating a 15-passenger van.
Before every trip, check the tires for proper inflation and
make sure there are no signs of wear or damage. Correct tire size and inflation pressure information can be found in the own-er's manual and on the door pillar.
Protect Your Flock It is better to avoid risk and possible injury all together by using the safest means of transportation. If the only option is to use a not-so-safe vehicle, make sure all guidelines and procedures are followed. Psalm 4:8 (ESV) says, “In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” We can be sure that God will al-ways protect us, but we must do our part to protect His flock by using the safest transportation possible. David Fournier NAD Regional Manager, ARM Inc.

Wilderness survival camp And there shall be a time of trouble, Such as never was
since there was a nation, even to that time. And at that
time your people shall be delivered, every one who is
found written in the book. Daniel 12:1
It’s hard to imagine a more
scary time than the lasts days
of earth’s history—the last days
before Jesus returns. It is so
tempting and easy to ignore
this coming reality and live life
as if it will never happen. How-
ever, Jesus’ advice was to
watch (Mark 13:37).
So I have to ask myself some
very challenging questions,
such as:
Am I ready to run to the hills
and mountains?
Do I know how to survive in the
wild?
How can I be both ready to
go, and prepared to stay?
Perhaps you’ve asked yourself
similar questions? Perhaps
you’ve become more interest-
ed in living off the grid and be-
ing self-sufficient. Perhaps
you’ve noticed world events
and the craziness of our socie-
ty. Or maybe you have come
to the conclusion that God is
coming is real soon. All these
are just some of the ways in
which the Holy Spirit works,
prompting us to get ready. But
what do you do to get ready?
The first thing is to sort out your
relationship wit God. After that
you’re going to have to serious-
ly consider preparing yourself
to live without your normal
comforts of home.
Our Wilderness Survival Camp
will teach you many valuable
skills about survival living: star-
ing a fire without a match, wa-
ter purification survival equip-
ment, shelter, backpacks, and
much more.
It will be held at Camp Ku-
laqua from July 22-24. The cost
is $55. No food or accommo-
dation is provided. You’ll need
to bring your camping equip-
ment. Do not buy specialized
survival equipment until you’ve
been through this training.
There is no age restrictions, and
you do not have to be a Path-
finder to attend. This open to
anyone. For more information
please contact Robert Hines or
Aimee Layson.
