Assignment: Flipped Classroom
I. Innovation
Under what circumstances in schools would you use both sustaining anddisruptive innovations?
When many people come together, great work can be accomplished. Developing a
new school improvement plan would be an ideal situation in which to use sustaining
and disruptive innovations. While revising the school improvement plan, the staff
should be given a chance to work together to create a working sustainable plan in
order to fulfill the present and future needs of the school. Reworking a plan that is
in place will be challenge unless the direction is clear.
Why is innovation important in schools/classrooms?The classroom is a perfect place to use types of innovation. The procedures of the
classroom constantly seek the attention of new ways of presenting information to
students whether behavior or academic. In the classroom, unless teachers do not
look at ways to be innovative while presenting lessons the students will soon either
fade away or become disorderly. Students are often seeking out ways to be
involved in their learning; however, teachers sometimes just do whatever they have
always done in their career.
Of course the school is a place that innovation should be on the rise. The schoolneeds to have new ideas, activities, events, and programs. Some school focus on the
positive traditional programs, and do not want to change. Some traditional
steadfast programs prove to produce a positive school; however, each time the
school should reflect on what was evidence of the positive results.
What is the biggest form or resistance to innovations that you haveexperienced?
Overall the usage of technology and the programs connected to technology have met
resistance. I remember the first time they told us that we must put attendance and
grades on the computer. Some of my coworkers refused to change, and fought the
change until they were constantly reprimanded. Some coworkers freaked out and
could not handle the technology usage, but coworkers received the change and
challenged anyone to change it again.
What is the most influential factor that promotes innovation that you haveexperienced?

Influential factors such as, having a clear direction in which innovation will take
place, and having the leader be a participant in the process. In other words, instead
of just saying heres a plan and you should do it; the leader should actively go
through the process with all the parties involved.
II. Change
From you experience, what is the main reason that change does not happen? One of the main reasons that change does not happen is because it is not clear what
the purpose actually is suppose to be. People must know what is the purpose for the
change and will that change affect them personally.
From your experience, what is the main reason why change fails?Once again, if there is no vision the people will perish which is stated biblicalscripture; however, applies to life in general. People want a vision, and they want a
leader to make their vision clear. A clear vision can produce an effective change
because helping others visualize the change will empower them to want to change.
In your opinion, what is the most important factor for building capacity forchange?
Building capacity can create collaboration, and collaboration gives others a voice in
the change. While giving others a voice in the change, the creation of completeness
and fulfillment can be achieved. Once fulfillment is achieved the results will be
sustainable.
III. Flipping the Classroom
Is this a sustaining or disruptive innovation?I think that it is a disruptive innovation because the innovation is new and different
compared to the traditional way of thinking; however, because of the way of
thinking is somewhat natural it could be considered sustaining. Most important, a
sustaining innovation that is built around making the process and outcome better.
What are the problems that flipping the classroom would solve in your school?Flipping the classroom could actually allow each student to more involved in their
own learning. This process could also help with classroom discipline because
everyone should be focused more on their learning and outcome. The classroom
could be focused on learning the information that relevant to the learner. I think the
flipped classroom actually aligns with problem based learning.
