Multimillion Dollar Art Project, San Rafael, CA A very unique request was made on an art project in San Rafael, CA. Would Elephant Armor bond to the natural clay soil that was continually eroding on approximately 2,500 square feet of walking surface? Could we make it closely match the look of the indigenous substrate? The color was matched integrally and the natural soil was broadcast and stamped into the surface. They now have a durable, crack-free lifelong surface that can handle the dances, parties and lectures they hold, while looking like the natural soil surrounding it.



Elephant Armor is being used as the structural coating on foam core training buildings for US Military training sites. Due to its superior flexural and tensile strength, it encapsulates the flexible foam, taking any movement without cracking, displacing or failing. Elephant Armor bonds to all suitable concrete, masonry, and cementitious substrates.

For full depth repairs onto an aggregate base, a fixed bidirectional geogrid must be properly installed prior to application. Please refer to www.gstinternational.com for more details.

IMPORTANT: Repair surfaces must be clean, sound, and free from contaminants that can act as a bond breaker (such as oil, curing compounds, acids, dirt and loose debris. GST Pro-Grade Masonry Cleaner and power washing is strongly advised in order to properly prepare the bonding surface! To ensure a proper bond, an adhesive/primer MUST be applied to the cleaned and prepared substrate. The primer must meet ASTM C1059 Type 1 and 2. When placing Elephant Armor all patches and overlays, should have a resin-based, water-based concrete curing compound applied immediately after finishing.

Elephant Armor must be placed to a hard edge! Existing cracks, cold joints, saw cuts and freestanding formwork shall be finished flush at a depth of not less than ¼". A feathered edge is not recommended.

In mixing Elephant Armor, stir dry contents prior to adding water and thoroughly mix with a jiffy type mixer attached to a 1/2” drill or larger. Continue mixing until mixture is homogenous, lump free and the desired consistency for your application. Actual mixing time will depend on mixer speed, shear capacity and desired consistency or flow.

WARNING: DO NOT BREATHE DUST, AVOID CONTACT WITH SKIN AND EYES!

Use material in well ventilated areas. Exposure to dust from this material may irritate eyes, nose, throat and lungs. Dust mask is recommended during the mixing process. Contact with dry materials or wet mixtures may cause chemical burns to skin and eyes. Protect eyes with safety glasses with side shields or goggles. Skin should be covered with protective clothing. Use chemical resistant gloves. In case of skin contact, immediately wash with soap and water. In case of eye contact, flush immediately and repeatedly with clean water.

Elephant Armor is specifically designed for horizontal, vertical & overhead applications. Zero slump to semi-flowable is adjusted on site by controlling the added water.

Elephant Armor is ideal for patch and repair use on: walkways, curbs, ramps, slabs, spalls, cracks, bridges, parking structures, tunnels, dams, industrial plants, anywhere a high strength concrete repair mortar is called for. This medium to fast setting, low slump fiber mortar can be troweled, shaped or molded to a minimum thickness of ¼".

Elephant Armor

Elephant Armor is available in 50 lb (22.6 kg) bags and 10 lb (4.5 kg) pails. It is pre-packaged and comes ready to use. Its ease of use is unparalleled - all you have to do is add water. This flexible repair mortar/overlay has an average yield of:

• 50 lb bags: 9.3 sq. ft. at ½" thickness; 18.75 sq. ft. at ¼" thickness, however yield in service will vary.

• 10 lb pails: 1.8 sq. ft. at ½” thickness; 3.7 sq. ft. at ¼” thickness, however yield in service will vary.

Elephant Armor Mortar and Asphalt Patch initially sets in 35 to 55 minutes and achieves final set in 1 1/2 to 2 hours, depending on ambient temperature and humidity.

Elephant Armor DOT industrial Grade initially sets in 20 to 30 minutes and achieves final set in 1 to 1 1/2 hours, depending on ambient temperature and humidity. Set time can be adjusted with retarders.
