BI. Business Intelligence:Microsoft Technology. Project deliverable examples: SQL Services Integration Services: The purpose was to integrate external data from three different sources into the SQL Server database. Through the creation of different packages using SQL Server Integration Services environment, and creation of maintenance tasks. This document provides technical documentation about a packages developed for Extracting, Transporting and Loading to populate a SQL database called AllWorks. It was used SSIS Documenter for documenting purpose.

Example of Work Activities for a DW Project

Describe the work activities that comprise the work breakdown structure (WBS) or the work

packages within the WBS. Identify the WBS element or other work package identifier and provide

a general description of the tasks or activities, the definition or objectives, and the milestones and

deliverables of each work package.

Identifier Work Package Description Definition/Objective Milestone/Deliverable

1.0 Plan for an Iterative Development Method

Include short phases that provide frequent deliverables to help manage expectations to the project.

1.1 Strategy Define the business objectives and purpose of the data warehouse solution, while establishing an environment for incremental development.

Enterprise Vision for Data Warehouse

1.2 Scope Define the scope and objectives for the incremental development. Initial models are created, data sources are documented, and the scope of data quality is defined. The technical architecture and data warehouse architecture are also created.

Scope and objectives for the incremental development

1.3 Analysis Formulate the detailed requirements for the data acquisition, and the data access requirements for business analysis and decision making.

Detailed requirements for the data acquisition, and the data access requirements

1.4 Design Take the requirements from the analysis phase and translate them into detailed design specifications, while accounting for the technical architecture, data warehouse architecture, and available technology.

Detailed design specifications

1.5 Build Create and test the database structures, data acquisition warehouse administration, metadata, data access, and reports and queries. Validated with user.

Incremental solution built and validated.

1.6 Transition/Production Install the incremental solution, prepare the client personal to use and manage the solution, go to production, and begin managing the growth and maintenance of the warehouse.

Incremental solution installed.
