Examples of non-perishable snack items needed are: packages of cheese and crackers, cookies, Goldfish crackers, granola bars, pudding cups, Pop-Tarts, instant oatmeal, microwave popcorn, fruit cups, raisins, express mac-n-cheese. For more information about Indy Snack Attack, go to www.indysnackattack.org or email questions to [email protected]. Thank you for your help in supporting our students, neighbors, and community!

PASTA BOWL

Pasta Bowl is designed to raise awareness for the 1 in 7 local students that struggle with food insecurity. That number increases to 1 in 4 in some of our buildings. By joining forces, we have been able to raise tens of thousands of pounds of pasta to serve dozens of area food pantries, food banks, and even

Second Helpings. In fact, last year we raised enough pasta to provide a serving to every man, woman, and child in Fishers with some left over. We are collecting pasta in the front office from 8-31 until 9-6. Thanks for your support. 8th GRADE WASHINGTON DC TRIP

FJH 8th graders were recently invited to take part in the 19th annual class trip to Washington D.C. Mr. Heiniger (8th grade social studies teacher) will again be sponsoring the trip through Worldstrides. Students will fly out to our nation’s capital over Presidents Day weekend to experience this once in a lifetime trip. They will be visiting many of the Smithsonian Museums including the Natural and American History Museums, the Air and Space Museum, as well as the Holocaust Museum. They will also be visiting Ford’s Theatre, Mount Vernon, Arlington National Cemetery, the Capitol, Supreme Court, National Cathedral, and many monuments in DC. Students can still pick up information packets from their social studies teacher or by stopping by the front office. Deadline to register for the trip is September 9th.

Response-to-Instruction (RtI) RtI is a general education initiative designed to provide high quality instruction and interventions matched to student needs, and using learning rate over time and level of performance to make important educational decisions. The RtI model is based on a three-tiered model of service delivery with a focus on early intervention and prevention of academic and behavioral concerns. Data collected during this process provides valuable information regarding students’ educational progress and response to interventions. Students who do not demonstrate a response to well-implemented, scientifically-based interventions at the Tier 3 level would be referred for an educational evaluation to determine eligibility for special education. RtI is a component of HSE’s Child Find Process.

Why does my child go to Camp Tecumseh?

Our outdoor education program is an interdiscipli-

nary study of nature and life science. There are

many aspects of the seventh-grade science curricu-

lum that are better suited to hands-on learning.

However, the program is not just three days and two

nights of science. English, math, social studies, art,

and physical education are also present in the curriculum.

When does my child go to Camp Tecumseh?

HEROES & STARS (last name A-J) - April 9-11

Globetrotters and STARS (last name K-Z) - April 11-13

How much does camp cost?

$135.00 per student

When is the money due?

First payment of $70.00 is due on Thursday,

October 26.

Final payment of $65.00 is due on Friday,

March 23.

The entire/remaining amount can be paid anytime prior to March 23.

Can parents go to camp?

Definitely! We need moms and dads to stay in the cabins with the students. If

you are interested contact Kevin Stumpf ([email protected]) for a cabin par-

ent form.

Forms may be accessed at:
