This summer the doors to TV's most famous house open for one last time. The final selection of housemates will spend a summer in front of the cameras as the biggest television series of the past decade offers up its last dose of Big Brother to Channel 4. True to form Big Brother will not be leaving the limelight quietly but will be creating an almighty ruckus as all the stops are pulled out for a summer of frenetic, fascinating and fun-filled television. Both housemates and viewers should expect some surprises including new twists and turns to the existing format, rewarding the housemates with what will inevitably be some of the most memorable, challenging and revealing weeks of their lives. Cocooned from public opinion and the world outside, ultimately it’s the relationships the housemates build with each other that keep viewers hooked. No matter what Big Brother has in store, one thing that won’t change is that of the power of the fans to change the direction of the show. Each eviction night it is their votes that count, deciding which housemates to discard, and who to save. Finally, as one housemate emerges triumphant, the doors will close on one of the most ground breaking, compelling, controversial and downright entertaining chapters of British television history.www.channel4.com/bigbrotherBig Brother is produced by Remarkable Television (an Endemol company) for Channel 4 and E4. .how and why did you start the band?joe- 'Cause I want to play music, its fun!!paul- I had been looking to start a band for ages, at the time I was sharing a flat with Joe (bassist) and another few guys. I knew Joe from a National Diploma Music course we both did and we had talked about sorting out a jam. So we started looking for a drummer, I remembered Paul Palliser (Alfie/drums) from my old secondary school, I knew he was young but a damn good drummer. We got in contact with him and the 3 of us jammed and thrashed out a few good tunes and decided to start looking for a singer. At first I thought we would never find a worthy vocalist, as GOOD singers are extremely hard to find. Then a friend of mine told me of a girl he knew that was a really good singer and wanted to start a band. I didn't think much at first, met up with her and gave her a few instrumental demos to write to, within that week we had written our first two songs, 'Turn Around' and 'Stand Up' both on our debut EP, the rest is history!

jilly- I had been off the singers circuit for quite some time after some confidence busting experiences through the likes of the 'X-Factor' and 'I'd Do Anything'... (Strange I know, but i thought I should try everything *laughs*!!) until being featured as a writer in 'The Japanese Popstars' debut album 'We Just Are', I co wrote and also performed the title track. It got featured on Pete Tongs show a number of times and got some great reviews.

After that I started to guest appear in some acoustic slots around the town. It was after both of those experiences that I started to believe that I could do it and do it in my own way too. I was then put in touch with the boys through a mutual friend and we had 3 tracks written within the week! It's been quite mad how it has all just fallen into place so quickly!what's been your craziest moment in the band?

The 29-year-old midfielder has lifted the FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, League Cup and UEFA Cup in his time at Liverpool, where he has become a legend among the Reds fans as their 'Captain Fantastic'. However, the Anfield favourite has yet to taste glory at international level. Having qualified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ with a near-perfect record of nine wins from ten games, Gerrard is out to put that right. Here, he talks to FIFA.com about learning from what happened in Germany in 2006,

FIFA.com: Steven, you missed a penalty as England lost a shoot-out to Portugal at Germany 2006. What did you learn from that experience? I think, having missed the penalty, I’ll probably be a bit more composed next time and take my time a bit more. I’ll work that little bit harder in training to make sure I know what I’m going to be doing. It all happened really fast in 2006 and I felt after the penalties that I should have taken my time more.

What goes through your mind when you step up to take a spot-kick?It is massive pressure, but that’s what we’ve got to do, we’ve got to try and handle that pressure. I didn’t handle it in 2006, so if I’m put in that situation again I will try and deal with the pressure a lot better. But it’s difficult, it’s not like taking a normal penalty in practice – you’ve got so much responsibility. You know all the fans back home are watching and when you’re tired, when you’re under so much pressure, that’s when mistakes happen and that’s what happened to me in 2006.You mentioned being tired in a penalty shoot-out.

What about in extra-time? What happens to the body and the mind when a game reaches that stage? You’re very tired. You’ve run out of energy, you’re desperate for the game to stop, but you

Boy wonder?

need to try and remain focused and concentrate right to the end. It’s very difficult, because at this level a game is very quick, so after 90 minutes you’ve ran out of energy. [Extra-time] is when lot of mistakes come. When the body and the mind are really tired you see teams make mistakes, the game becomes a lot slower. Obviously, the two teams are desperate not to lose the game, so everyone becomes a bit edgy. It all happened really fast in 2006 and I felt after the penalties that I should have taken my time more.

England expects this team to win the FIFA World Cup. Does that weigh heavily on your shoulders? As players, we have to deal with the expectations and the pressure of playing for England. The supporters and media are very passionate about the country and a lot is expected of us. It’s important that we, as players, cope with that in the best way we can.

Some people are saying England’s group in South Africa will be easier than some of the others. What do you think? We are pleased with the draw and we’re very confident that we can qualify from the group, but at the same time we have to show the teams respect. Every team has done fantastically well to get to the World Cup and all three teams against us in the group [Algeria, Slovenia and the USA] are desperate to beat England. We know they’re going to play the game of their lives, so we need to make sure we perform well to win. We are pleased with the draw and we’re very confident that we can qualify from the group, but at the same time we have to show the teams respect.

England will open their World Cup campaign at Rustenburg’s Royal Bafokeng Stadium against the United States on 12 June, before making the trip to Cape Town to face Algeria on 18 June. Their final Group Match will be against Slovenia in Nelson Mandela Bay/Port Elizabeth on 23 June.

Looking back to past FIFA World Cups, which players did you look up to when you were a child and which players do you admire the most?My favourite player of all time is Zinedine Zidane, the [former] French captain. Just to see him play – the way he moves, the way he controls the ball, the way he passes – is an absolute privilege and there’s so much you can learn from that guy, he’s a genius with the ball. From an England point of view, there is Gazza [Paul Gascoigne]. I like watching gifted players who are skilful, and Gazza is probably one of the most skilful English players there’s even been, so I would pick those two.

Paul Gascoigne played in the FIFA World Cup in Italy 1990 alongside Gary Lineker, who won the Golden Boot with six goals in Mexico in 1986 as well. What do you think of him as a player and his playing style? His playing style was all about scoring goals. He used to pick up the right positions, really close to the goal, and score a lot in the area. To me, Gary Lineker is a legend. I grew up watching him and I loved it when he was knocking in the goals in 1986 and 1990. You’ve got to take your hat off to him, because scoring goals is the most difficult thing to do in football and he had a very good instinct to be in the right place at the right time.

Bronagh and Paul singing to bring City of Culture to “Our Town”

Bronagh Gallagher and Paul Casey, have gotten together to boost the city’s campaign to become UK City of Culture by writing a song backing Derry’s bid which will be previewed at a special concert Tomorrow night. Bronagh, who is one of the bid’s Cultural Champions, is looking forward to performing the tune entitled ‘Our Town’ which will be performed at the gig at Sandino’s on Wednesday June 8. “Paul and I toured the country together a few years ago and I was delighted then when Paul asked me to sing on a couple of tracks on his last album. When I came back and was asked to become an ambassador for the City of Culture, I thought no better man to help create a song and put on a gig than Paul,” she explained.Like Bronagh, Paul has been delighted to have an opportunity to lend his support for the bid. “It’s great for me and for Bronagh to be involved in something that’s so positive for the city, and to be able to contribute through a writing a song and playing a gig is something I’m very happy to be doing,” he said. And Paul believes that a successful bid could provide local musicians with a platform to showcase the depth of talent that exists in the city. “The city is a great venue for other bands coming in here but there should be a big focus on really supporting local upcoming musicians here and getting them out and giving them confidence and opportunities,” he said www.cityofculture2013.com

Derry -Londonderry is one of four cities shortlisted in the race to become the UK’s City of Culture in 2013, along with Birmingham, Norwich and Sheffield. The city’s crusade has also received support from the United States, with the US Economic Envoy to Northern Ireland, Declan Kelly, backing Derry-Londonderry's bid. The city submitted its final bid at the end of May 2010, and the winner of UK City of Culture 2013 will be announced in the summer. No Mean City were announced as the 7th band to play at the RedBull bedroom Jam stage at Download this weekend. This was the end of a competition that has dominated the lives of all involved for weeks and months. Emotions ran high on monday afternoon as the online activity crashed the RedBull Bedroom Jam webpage in a frenzy of online "buzz" as the fans frantically tried to get their chosen bands to the topof the chart. The first band to be announced was Glasgow 4 piece Sacred Betrayal. Then came the agonising, nail-biting, nerve-racking wait, as the next 7 acts were to be announced at 15 minute intervals. So we waited with baited breath and crossed finger as RedBull announced the acts....next up was Heights the five-piece hardcore band hailing from Welwyn Garden City. Then after another gruelling 15 minutes Never Means Maybe from Chelmsford were announced followed by the Belfast boys Stand-up-Guy...this announcement was accompanied by so much controversy that tempers flared and emotions were running very high indeed! The controversy continued as the next 2 acts to be announced You And What Army and This Is Devine were both acts from outside the final top 10. Then
