Prent Corporation in Janesville, Wisconsin hasreceived ISO Class 8 certification for twoadditional clean rooms. The newly constructedspace was built to accommodate increasedgrowth in the medical packaging market, furthershowcasing the company’s commitment to meetthe most critical manufacturing requirements.
Clean room manufacturing is largely fueled bycustomer demand and heightened compliancefocus. Earlier this year, Prent announced thecertification of a secondary clean room, whichwas specifically designed for post-thermoformingoperations, project assembly and fulfillment.
“The key to our value is to exceed customerexpectations. Our clean room operationsexemplify our commitment to producing high-performance packaging for our customers’critical applications,” said Mitch Benson, SeniorVice President of Manufacturing Services.
By nature, clean rooms are designed to reduce
the number of contaminants in the environmentwhere products are manufactured. Prent’s Class8 certified clean room design maintains positiveair pressure and balance, which is essential inpreventing contaminates from infiltrating into theclean room.
Proper gowning is one of the primary safeguardsto help prevent contamination in clean roomoperations. Anyone entering Prent’s cleanenvironments is required to follow strict gowningprocedures. Employees of Prent must completedocumented step-by-step training to ensureproper gowning procedures are followed at all times. The elevated gowning proceduresallow us to work and maintain a very stringentenvironmental condition.
The medical industry relies on partners such asPrent to meet sterile packaging requirements, further validating that the packaging process isan important step in the manufacture of medicalpackaging.

Backed by decades of deepmanufacturing expertise and dedicated workmanship, the company is uniquelypositioned to provide best-in-class custom thermoform packaging.
The Powerful Advantageof Vertical Integration
Prent has long recognized the powerful advantageof controlling their own manufacturing processes.Instead of relying on outside sources, the companyfocuses on growing and developing employees andexpanding capabilities necessary to meet themarket demands. From product development, technology, tool and machine build, Prent has beenidentifying ways to enhance the value chain fordecades. Vertical integration has allowed thecompany to do just that – to innovate andoperationalize a seamless transition betweenprocesses and align their brand promise with anexceptional customer experience.
Measuring productivity has been a continual bestpractice. The company uses OEE (OverallEquipment Effectiveness) to systematically identifyways to improve and streamline manufacturingoperations. Consistently achieving an OEE score of+95%, the company can attribute their efficiency totheir automated, robotic and custom processes.
“We can leverage the fact that our productionequipment is the same at all of our facilities. Thiscommonality drives productivity and allows us tooperate using the same manufacturing practicesworldwide,” said Mitch Benson, Senior VicePresident of Manufacturing Services.
