■ LivingLandscapeintroducesanewhybridhousing typology. On the edge of the citya new form of housing creates a smoothtransitionfromurbanizationtonature.
■ By shifting the dwellings semi-detachedhousesarecreatedwithinahighdensity.
■ The sculptural roofs of the houses arealso the visual boundaries of the privategardens. From the living room it appearsthat thehorizonhas lifted,whichenlargesthe garden.All the roofs are coveredwithgrasstoenhancethiseffect.

■ Inordertovitalizethecitycenterwehavechosen a strategy of urban condensation:Instant Downtown. We propose a fullyprogrammed dense urban blockwhich givesFargo’s downtown an identifiable, matureskyline.
■ Inaddition,weboostthenumberofdowntowninhabitants,andcreateaoneofkindelevatedurbanactivitypark.Separatingtheshoppingplazaandtheurbanactivitydeckwefind500parking spaces on a continuous ramp fullyintegratedintotheblock.Nomoreparkingonstreetlevel,nomoreuglystreetfrontparkinggarages.

■ TheecopassagehastocontributetoimageofaCradletoCradleindustrialdevelopment.Thisisoneofthereasonsfor constructing the bridge out of (indigenous) trees,whichliterallyaddstotheconceptofnature crossing the road.
■ Due to reasons of availability and material strengthwehavechosenforLarchen(Larix)forthecolumnsandOregonPineforthedeck.Adoublerowofcolumnsinthemiddle,twosinglerowsonthesidesandtwoconcreteloadbearingwallsattheendsmakeupthestructuraldesign.
■ Byplacingthecolumnsonananglewemanagetoreducetheexpansionatitsmostcriticalspot:thereweretheloadofthegroundisthelargest(oneandahalfmetersofsoil).

TimstudiedarchitectureattheEindhovenUniversityofTechnologyandgraduatedontherevitalizationoftheHofpleinRailwayoverpass inRotterdam.During thecourseofhis studyhewas theeditorof theChepos,aquarterlymagazineonarchitecture, urbanismandengineering.He startedhis career atVHParchitects andurbanistswhereheworkedonseverallarge-scaleprojectsinRussiaandaselectionofcompetitionsandresearchprojectsintheNetherlands.ForabriefperiodofthreemonthsheworkedontheprestigiousEkoAtlanticprojectinLagos,NigeriafortheengineeringfirmRoyalHaskoning.
In2009heswitchedtoStudioMarcoVermeulen,aresearchanddesignofficebasedinRotterdam.Inthepasttwoyearshehasworkedonavarietyofprojects, includingthemasterplanningandconceptdevelopmentoflargesustainableindustrialareas,thedesignofanecopassageconstructedoutoftreelogs,a3Dpark,anurbaninfillblockandtheconceptualizationandprototypingofwatersquares:aninnovativeconceptforstormwaterretentionindenseurbanareas.RecentlyhehasattendedandtutoredatthreeworkshopsinBrazil,organizedbytheNAi,StudioX(ColumbiaUniversityNY)andtheAASchoolofArchitecture.In2011TimmovedtotheUnitedStatestofurtherpursuehiscareerinarchitecture,urbanismandresearch.
